So, yesterday I watched The Original Star Wars Trilogy. This is all
calapine's fault because she was talking about them. Also, on Friday I bought a T-Shirt saying "Yoda Says Relax!" so obviously, the stars were aligning or something. I haven't watched them for at least a couple of years so it was quite nice to see them again really. Well, mostly

1. Han and Leia's trip to Bespin (which is 'pretty far' away) took far longer than is suggested on screen - at least a month, maybe more.
2. Time on Dagobah passed very strangely for some reason - maybe because Yoda did something, idk.

That's always been my explanation for it. The lightspeed was out of commission, so they were stuck with the second best speed, so it might very well have taken them a while to get to Bespin. Plus, since he was tracking them, Boba Fett was able to get a message to Vader about in what direction they were going in. That allowed him to get to Bespin ahead of time and threaten Lando with getting hit with wet noodles unless he let Vader throw a dinner party for the princess, the smuggler, and Chewie. Not to mention it was his big reunion with Threepio.

XD Do you think he was really, really cross when he found out the stormtroopers had shot him? Sort of a "NO REALLY, WHY DID YOU DO THAT?" and all the Stormtroopers are going "HE DID IT, IT WAS HIM!" and pointing at each other. And Darth is all "... >:("

The only parts I liked about ROTJ was the Vader/Luke interactions.
As for EU, that's what finally drove me away from Star Wars. Tread down that path lightly.

I'll echo that. Vector Prime was what killed my desire to read the EU with any frequency. Basically, my policy is: If it isn't written by Timothy Zahn (and thus is very likely to have Mara Jade in it), I ain't interested.

I actually like Mike Stackpole and Aaron Allston better as writers than Tim Zahn but after Legacy of the Jedi, I refuse to read any more.

...Are you an X-Wing fan, then? Cause I love those books, they're the only Star Wars EU books I'm really in the fandom for (though sadly it seems to be mostly dead now).
But yeah. I have up on the EU after getting spoiled for the major character death that was awaiting me in the later books. :(

ESB, I love because it really gives us a sense, for the first time, of the war that's being fought, and that it's a really tried and true struggle. You have the Alliance getting its ass handed to it on Hoth, Luke getting his ass handed to him by both Yoda and Vader (not to mention a particularly unwelcome surprise from DV), Han being frozen and dragged off by Boba Fett. Definitely not a good time for everyone, which I think made it more enjoyable and realistic for me ( ... )

I like Empire, mosty because I never had to wait for Jedi - I LOVE bucket loads of angst, as long as there is a relatively happy ending. Thus I adore Empire because there's SO MUCH ANGST AND DESPAIR but hey, it all comes right for everybody so it's brilliant.
I love Palpatine. He's just kind of awesome (although really did need to learn when to shut up as talking to Luke all the time kept putting him off)
The Ewoks are lovely. And hey, death traps! With logs!

Oh snap!
And I prefer Return of the Jedi primarily for the Force Lightning. Idk, I have a thing for causing my favourite characters pain...

... You ... you like it for the Force Lightning thing too? I'M NOT ALONE?! *totally loves that scene, was totally warped by it at a vulnerable age ...*

And I do! And you're not alone in having been warped at a vulnerable age either. I love Force Lightning scenes. Love, love, love them.
