Movie time!

Jan 28, 2007 09:19

So, I was able to rent "Living Til the End" on Tuesday. Tried to buy it, but none of the stores had it in, so Yay! for Hollywood Video! I watched it right away, and then again yesterday morning, and have been trying to formulate what I could say about it without getting spoilery. So, here goes...( Cut for rambling and some minor spoilers )

You haven't watched WW?! Girl, you really need to see it! I know it's available for d/l somewhere...

As for the sheet dipping, it's pretty much all shown on the trailer here, though you need Quicktime to view it. *g* And, yeah, pretty yummy. *g*

*grins* nope not yet, my friend d/k it for me and burnt it to cd but the burning process buggered up so it refuses to play-gotta wait for her to come back to work to do it again.

Mmm yummy, scrummy, *want* lol

Hmm...arthouse plus an excuse. *g* No way was it deeply psychological, even though it concerned psychological issues. His 'issues' were resolved too quickly and easily, imo. But what else can you do in a movie that's only an hour and a half long? *shrug*

I have high hopes for 'Waitress', though married doctor falling for equally married patient... But at least it should get wide distribution since FoxSpotlight paid so much for it. *g* I honestly think Nathan's career is moving along quite nicely. Now if only the same could happen to Sean...

Oh, I would have bought it, if the gorramn stores would have had it in stock! But neither Best Buy nor Borders had it in, and I wasn't going to go chasing all over town to find it, especially when the video store had a copy. *g* I agree, every little bit does help, but they'll just have to get my bit from rental money. *g*

Ah. Now that's a deal. *g* Still, probably wouldn't have bought it that way, because I really don't think I'll ever be able to watch BS again. Not because it was bad, but because it hits too close to home, like I said earlier. *g* And, if you haven't watched it yet, be sure to have tissues handy when you do. Quite the tearjerker. *g*

I didn't mind the slow pace at all, but yes, I can also see why it didn't get wide distribution. I TOTALLY agree on the passport thing... that seems such an American thing, to completely "forget" about that! But mostly, while Jack seemed to recover awfully fast, I liked it a lot. The way Jaime and Sean played off each other worked really well.

I think for me, LttE it's about even with Wedding Wars, but Brian's Song and obviously Serenity/Firefly are ahead of them all.

What I would really love to see Sean play is evil. Very, darkly, truly evil. Maybe the twisted kind. I just know he would be soooo sexy in a role like that! *fans self*

I didn't particularly mind the slow pace--it wasn't like I was checking my watch wondering when the movie was going to end. *g* But it definitely affected the distribution factor, I'm sure. I also like the Jaime-Sean interaction, and think they performed well together, it's just...I don't know, it just felt like things moved too quickly and easily--with no real exploration of the issues involved. *shrugs*

I didn't have those expectations of WW--it was a made for TV piece of fluff, so I didn't mind so much that they didn't explore the issues any deeper than they did. I also need to remember that this movie was filmed before WW, so maybe expecting 'stretching' was a little too much on my part. *g*

Maybe in his next role? Which, yes, let's hope for twisted evil. Would be so...very...hot. *bg*

Evil with very little, or no, clothes on would be a good role for Sean to do next .. .

Can't say that I'd disagree about that. *g*

I just got done watching it, and I'm about to start it over again because I was online and missed some stuff. I liked it way better than Wedding Wars, which I just thought was... well, lame. It had cute moments, but I watched it once and that was enough. This, I immediately want to see again. I think I liked Brian's Song better, though this is something that's easier to rewatch so I'll probably watch it more. I can only watch Brian's Song occasionally because Sean is so good it's painful ( ... )

Re the passports...Exactly! I don't have any problems with Europeans/Asians/whathaveyou getting on a plane for a different country w/o even thinking about it, but Americans don't generally have a passport lying around, unless they've travelled internationally before. We didn't even use to have one for Canada & Mexico, but that changed at the beginning of the year. And it seemed to me that there was a line in 'The Holiday' to the effect that Cameron Diaz's character had never been out of the country, not positive since I only saw it once, but I know Jack Black's character said so. Just...so irritating. /rant *g*

Like I said somewhere else *points up* I didn't expect a lot out of WW, so wasn't disappointed. *eg* This one...it just solved the problems too easily, imo. *shrug* And Sean is definitely good in BS, but one time through that one was enough for me. *wipes away tears*

I guess I was thinking more along the lines of people with jobs like Jack's and Cameron's might have had them anyway on the offchance they did need to go abroad at the last minute, rather than the fact they'd actually been anywhere.

Hmm...maybe Cameron's character, but not so sure about Jack's. And in LttE, I could see that Audrey may have had one since she worked for 'Vanity Fair', but Jack with his fear of flying? Nope, not buying it. I don't think he would have ever even ventured to go on a cruise to the Caribbean. *eg* Oh, well. *shrug* Plotholes. You gotta love 'em. *g*
