It occurs to me that I'm not happy. I'm not depressed or anything like that, but I'm not happy with my life. I don't like the societal expectations that are placed on me. I don't want to finish school, get a job, work until I'm 65 or 70, and then hope that I have enough life left to enjoy a decade or so of pursuing passion. I am not satisfied with ( Read more... )

I can identify with some of the things written here. These thoughts usually strike hardest sometime after Thanksgiving, when I'm standing in a store somewhere, looking at the packed shelves of junk. This is what our society has come to. So many of us are forced to sell junk in order to pay the bills, and then buy more junk. So few of us get to work with our hands and creative lobes. We need another arts & crafts movement.
