I really want to attend Howard, but I haven't worked up the courage. Your last post exemplified a lot of that. It's been something I've been thinking about talking about/posting since this past summer due to work, etc., but I've been too much of a pussy.

I leave in February. Right now the S.O.'s sprog is here for a week. What are you doing after the 8th? Must.hang.out.

Headed to Australia in February. Don't know when I'll be back. Sometime in August, I think, but it may be just to wrap ends up and go back; won't know until the time comes.

I'm supposed to be in NY with the SO's fam from this Monday through Thursday but I'm thinking of bailing. It's just too damn cold. What are your plans for next week? Day or evening, I'm free 24/7 if I stay here while they're gone.

hahaha i had to imagine going to howard for two weeks of my life one summer when i was living on campus for a journalism program there... but i can't imagine going there because the whole time i didn't see anyone who looked like me...

oh right, i remember you telling me that. i mean, yes, it's clearly a black school, although i do remember meeting this indian kid once who tried to sell me drugs who went to school there. i think howard is a weird place because it's just so so so middle class and, even though i support hbc's and i do support howard, i have to recognize that for a long time (maybe still??) that school was the paradigm of colorism and classism within the black community. i actually have a mixed friend, or ex-friend, who goes to school there who's mixed black and white. he's a bit darker than me, though, and pretty much into that whole "let me get a degree and make lots of money and have a wife and kids by age 30" thing. which is not bad, it's just some people's interests in life, and those interests are not the same as mine. all this is to say i think he's doing fine there, although i know he got really really religious after going.

ps - three more weeks and then we're roomies, roomie.
