Last year when I was near a Trader Joes for the first time, I picked up their brand called Tea Tree Tingle, I think it was called. I liked it, but once it ran out, I had to switch back to my old kind. Trader Joes was just too far away for me to go back to.
So I'd try looking there or at a Whole Foods or a co-op type of store if you have one nearby.
I'm also thinking of trying Chagrin Valley's shampoo bars when my soak n float puck is gone. I've seen them recced a bunch of times in various communities.
It's always made me sad as well that Lush's products are so fresh and natural, yet one of the few synthetics or preservatives they use in some products is SLS. Maybe, someday they will re-configure their formula to exclude it... I hope so!
Thats my hope as well. It's hella disappointing, tbh.
As for myself- I've pretty much used Burt's Bees rather consistently for the last 4-5 years. Usually using the super shiny shampoo/voluminizing conditioner or I mix it up otherwise. The coconut deep conditioner is also super awesome. I also have really fine hair though, if that makes a different.
I am using the Raspberry and BrazilNut one right now. I actually really like it so I might just stick with it. I'm just worried about a build up forming =\
I sometimes use Foxy curls shampoo by Bedhead.. It's pretty pricey, but I'm not too impressed. :\ Even though I gave up my Lush hair care products over six months ago (due to dying my hair), I'm still sad. D:
SLS is Sodium Laurel (or Laureth?) Sulfate. Its a preservative in pretty much 99% of the shampoos and conditioners out there. It causes an alergic reaction with your scalp and causes a dandruff that is very small, dry and flaky. I did some research, and based on that, actual like nasty fungal dandruf tends to be greyish, greenish, or yellowish in color and comes off in much bigger flakes. I would read up on it some more to determine what you're experiencing and if you feel that its the non fungal type, give some SLS free shampoo a try.
I'm usuing Burt's Bees right now and its wonderful. Good luck!
if you want to look into salon brands, pureology shampoos don't contain SLS. and a newish shampoo is the dermorganic argan oil shampoo and masque, i've been using it the past week or so and my hair looks awesome. can you tell i'm a shampoo girl at a salon? haha
