So, I'm working on putting together an intro posts that will list all the tags and explain what they mean, and I have a couple of questions. (strike that, a lot, and I really need to learn how to do strike outs in posts ( Read more... )

I think you should use a Warning tag for rape, death of Luke or Reid, violence, ect. I don't think angst is specific enough. I might like angst but I don't want to read Luke getting raped.

I think there should be a tag that says bashing!Noah, or Bashing!Chris, because there are a few of us who don't mind them or even like them and wouldn't want to see them dragged through the mud.

Slice of life is defiantly not the same as fluff and schmoop. but Fluff and schmoop are the same.

I know it's harder, but to me the more tags a story has the more I know what I'm getting into. As long as the tags don't completely give away the story line. I mean, if there's supposed to be twists, like Luke losing his memory is something you aren't supposed to know until it happens then you really shouldn't tag it as amnesia!Luke. You should probably contact the authros to tag their own stuff or at least tell you what is in their fic especially if it is multi chapter. I wouldn't mind helping you tag my fics.

Thanks! I think I'm getting confusing here. Definitely "rape, death of Luke or Reid, violence" etc. shouldn't just come under the heading of angst ( ... )

Strike out = the word strike between < and >, then text and then strike between < and > again, with an / before the s ( ... )

Ooh, thanks! tests

I like Hurt!Luke and Hurt!Reid instead of hurt/comfort. IMO, hurt!Luke/Reid is emotional or physical.

Is dark!fic a good general tag for violence, abuse, etc, or should they definitely have their own tags? Knowing that clicking on the link will take you to the author's warnings anyway?

I agree with you that UST is a better tag.

And TOTALLY, I don't think there is a need for one-shot.

Maybe for dark!fics, specifically, we should index it like this:

Dark!fic entry
Author - title - Rating - WIP/Completed
- Chapter 1
- Chapter 2
- etc.
Warning(s): Violence, abuse, etc.

So, for instance:
Newssodark - Strength of the World - R - WIP (June 2010 -???)
- Chapter 1
- Chapter 2
- etc.
Warning(s): Violence

I really, really like this idea! And then we can use the author's own warnings.

This is not exactly an answer to your post, but it just popped into my head, so: do we have a tag for gapfiller fics? And in case there are fics in foreign languages (other than English), there should be a tag
lang:FR or lang:NL ...

Ask your questions anywhere, that's what these early crazy posts are for! We do have a tag for gapfiller, alissablue has been reorganizing the tags, so they should be a little easier to find.

I was thinking about the other language fics, myself, because we are such a multinational audience, but I'm not sure that any have come up in LRO or lure_atwt. If you know of any, let me know and I'll add now, otherwise, I think they might be tags we'll add as needed. I know that will come up with other things as well. We actually added a few tags when I started indexing the first fics.
