Oi oi! I AM NOT DEAD.

First off, let me apologize for being virtually non-existent here at lure_atwt. As some of you who have friended me personally probably know, I was (and frankly, still am) very bitter about the way As The World Turns ended, particularly with the way the Luke/Reid storyline was handled. That bitterness led me to all but swear off ( Read more... )

I am relatively new to this community. I love most of the fiction I've read here and am in awe of those who write it. I am not a writer. I only wish I could spin the type of stories the authors do. I think that this community is even more important now that "As the World Turns" has been gone a few months. It provides an outlet for us to continue our interest in the characters of the show, specifically Luke and Reid. These characters were (are) special, and I am glad they can continue their journey through the fiction I read here. To be honest, I thought I would have tired of reading stories about them by now, but I haven't. I still look forward to each new fic. That is a credit to the fine writing that we have here. One final note - thanks to the moderators for the work they do. I appreciate everyone's efforts to make this site a pleasure to visit.

First of all: yes, you're the mods and can obviously establish whatever rules you want in your comm. I'm really just trying to understand a) why this exclusionist approach is necessary at this point (there aren't that many posts a day anymore) and b) why RPS fic is somehow "more" LuRe than post-death fic. I would've imagined they'd both have to be posted elsewhere after the latest guideline post ( ... )

i you read the entry with care you notice that the mod loves rpf but likes to pretend that the train thing did not happen. ergo post-train fic bad, rpf good

I don't really feel passionately on either side of this issue, but I do have to say that I think you're wrong here. This is what she said above about RPS:

But seeing as lure_atwt is kind of the hub for fic (no offense intended to LRO), most people come here first to read stories, and a lot of them do like the imagined idea of Van and Eric getting hot under the collar personally, while playing out those scenes as Luke and Reid. So, that being said, I'm going to say that RPS is acceptable to post. My one caveat regarding RPS: if you're writing about Van and Eric getting steamy for each other playing roles other than Luke and Reid, it shouldn't be here.

So there are rules around this type of fic as well.

If anyone wants to throw tomatoes for enforcing a comm's rules and area of interest -- in this case, Luke and Reid as a couple -- then throw 'em back. ;p

I think it's important for a comm -- especially a shipper comm -- to have clear rules for posting. In the immortal words of Willow Rosenberg, a vague disclaimer is nobody's friend!

Absolutely. Then we all know where we are - and I'd hate for what I think is the best comm on LJ to fold because of something relatively unimportant. As others have said - we can all share such like fic as RPS/RPF - which I personally have no issue with, but can understand why others do - elsewhere. Like they say 'You can't please all of the people all of the time' xx
