Apologies for the less frequent updates! Holiday busy times. Plus end-of-term rapidly approaching. Why does everything always have to be done at once...? Anyway, have some fic recs and some random thoughts!

Sorry to hear that it had been very busy for you D: It's not like 'all stress, no fun', I hope?

Oh yeeeees! These news are all over the Tumblr! :DDD I can't wait! (Although, I'm not sure if I would like Wolverine to be back..)

Recs: Apples and Ink is spectacular, I agree! Also, I've just finished reading The Winter of Banked Fires by Yahtzee. Dear lord almighty! ALL OF THE FEELINGS!

Also! Congrats on your soon-anniversary!!! ♥

Song: These lyrics really ring true for Erik/Charles. I need to download that song to my player, yup.

Oh, yes. It's a good sort of busy, but, well...time, where have you gone? Partly the Secret Mutant Beast's fault, though. Good heavens. 1k word limit...and here's me writing a 12k and growing story ( ... )

Well, time has a tendency to go by so fast, especially when you don't want it to. That fic sounds monstrous, indeed. In a good way, of course! I can't wait to read it! :DDD And I bet that the requester would be thrilled to read such a long, well-developed fic! ♥

'The Winter of Banked Fires' is extremely good. But I will never, ever get over 'Fool me Once, Fool me Twice'. After finishing the last chapter, I was like 'What now? What am I suppose to do now?' It left me completely heart-broken and lost, but those kind of stories are just as great as fix-it ones, they have a very special place in my heart (since, really, I can't see our boys ending up together in any cannon way..)

Plans are awesome! :DD Have a blast, dear! And oh! A new fantasy fic: YES! Yes x 1000000000!!

Speaking of songs, this is my ChErik song:

I was raised from a broken seed ( ... )

Well...the three hints that I gave to someone else, about the Secret Mutant Beast, are as follows (I couldn't resist; I'm excited, darn it!): 1) I had to look up the year that Bloomingdale's and Sears were founded; 2) I also got to re-read some H.G. Wells; 3) holiday decorations... *tantalizes*

Agreed about "Fool Me Once, Fool Me Twice". *sobs incoherently* Beautiful, but I find that I don't re-read those heartbreaking ones as often--I just can't. (In my head-canon, at some way-off future date, Erik and Charles DO end up together, old and battle-weary and falling at last into compromise, realizing that their lives've only ever been about each other, in opposition or together. But that's a long way ahead.)

New fantasy fic hopefully today. Though that's actually a very old fantasy fic. *laughs* You can all know my shame.

Those are gorgeous lyrics, if a bit heartbreaking! (Which band/songwriter?) Will I learn how to be one of you someday? ...I hope the answer's yes. *wistful expression*

I completely understand on the end of term thing (I have 5 essays out of 3 classes all due luckily over the course of the next three weeks).

My Tudors Era AU has become longer and much more than the prompt originally called for but I've been talking with my prompter and she's been brilliant about a lot of it. And then reading a book for my Foundations of Europe class as given me more ideas for it. Unfortunately I can't work on it until after this semester is over because of all the essays. But I'll have after the 18th til the new year to write. :D

I'm in the 'I don't know how to feel' camp when it comes to the Sirs. It doesn't help that everyone all over tumblr is read for the various forms of Charles/Erik that'll come from this and I just prefer not to mix my McFassy with my Sirs McStewart ship wise at least. And I'm not sure how I feel about them being in the same movie. Some things sort of make it sound like this movie is like a grand finale instead of the First Class sequel.

I'll definitely check out garrideb's fic. It sounds lovely ( ... )

I thought that things could not get better. And then I heard the James + Neil Gaiman news. I CANNOT HANDLE ANY MORE AMAZINGNESS TODAY.

It totally is. I wonder what combinations will get to interact. I can imagine Sir Ian and James really pulling off some heartwrenching scenes, of future!Magneto looking back at the person he's lost. Although I would love to see the Magnetos comparing fashion sense...

Ahhhh I hope you have me for secretmutant! Mine is also becoming ridiculous, as I have a ridiculous pairing and a really, really specific requester lol and I'm not at all sure she's going to like it. XD Whatever; I do what it do, and what I do is drama. Happy writing!

Really really specific? That's...difficult! And the requester should know better; I mean, I think most of us tend to say 'prompts're inspiration only, go with what you want!' but there's always the one person who doesn't get that this is supposed to be fun...

Good luck with yours, though! Drama, you say? Will I have to read something fluffy in the aftermath, to make things okay again? (Of course I'll read yours, because it'll be good...)

LOL naahhhh. But she wanteda weird pairing, AND fluff (my opposite genre) AND cracky humor (I DO NOT DO CRACK RIO DOES THE CRACK XD)...AND Holiday!Fic. The closest I could POSSIBLY get was Film Noir. :P

Weird pairing, hmm? *is glad I do not have one of those* I like the fluff, but I know you are ALL ABOUT THE BEAUTIFUL HEARTACHE, so will be interested to see how THAT goes! (That's some bizarre matching, right there.)

Mine is definitely holiday!fic. With H.G. Wells references. :-p

Oh yes, tell me about it! Where on earth did almost-December suddenly come from???

THE UNIVERSE IS EXPLODING WITH AWESOME, YOU GUYS.

Half of me thinks it's awesome. Half of me doesn't want them to waltz in and steal the movie from our boys. The Sirs have had their go, after all... (but mostly I think it's awesome!)

my secret_mutant fic has become extremely long and complicated. This is entirely my fault. But the thing is, I really like it!I am looking forward to this like burning, just so you know! (You probably do already know though! ;)) And the fact that you really like it is great - it's always wonderful when readers know writers are particularly in love with their concepts, because it makes the fic that much better ( ... )

(so behind on comments argh all the things)

Agreed on both counts. It can't possibly be anything other than brilliant; and yet, I want(ed) this one to be about our boys, again...they're so good together, and XMFC was *their* movie! But...the Sirs are fantastic...

it's always wonderful when readers know writers are particularly in love with their concepts, because it makes the fic that much better.

I love it when you read a story, and you can tell that the author was just having a marvelous time--either out of sheer fun, or depth of emotion, but just really passionate about their art. One of those things that gives me faith in people, sometimes, that we can burn with that much creativity ( ... )

But...the Sirs are fantastic...

Saw them on stage together in Waiting for Godot a few years back and they were amazing! That's an odd play, but they made it riveting!

(I hope mine's good, though, now that I've said that--! *worries*)

Oh, pish. As if it would be anything else! :) I can definitely pick out the fics of mine, though, that I had a marvellous time with (those ones where everything comes together, and just flows, and you're really excited every time you pick up the metaphorical pen and add some more), and I hope that shows through in them.

Oh, James Blunt...I confess I have to be in the right mood

You know, I think I was the only person in the world who was upset when JB announced he was quitting music a few weeks back... ;P

At the alightly more amusing end of the scale, SOS by Abba does always make me think of Charles and Erik - I tried to reach for you, but you have closed your mind (!!!) (although all the lyrics are actually quite angsty if you listen to them). And also Undisclosed Desires by Muse.

It is an odd play, but I can see it working for them--they have such presence that no action's necessary. And I am entirely jealous that you got to see them act together; something about two great talents bringing out the best in each other, just marvelous...

those ones where everything comes together, and just flows, and you're really excited every time you pick up the metaphorical pen and add some moreYes yes yes. Those moments're why we're writers, I think. Well, there're other reasons too, but that...sheer breathless joy when the story pours itself out through you...it's incandescent. And I think everyone reading catches the reflection of the flame ( ... )
