AO3!

Oct 09, 2012 09:55

I now have an AO3 account! Same name as this one. Now I must figure out how to get the fic over there, and where to start, with all of said fic!

Still keeping this LJ as the primary actual journal, though. I like it here. :-)

I looooooooove ao3! Ah, the bookmarking, the downloading....In some cases, you can import all the fic from an LJ link--though you might want to change the date so it doesn't get buried way back in the archives.

It does seem to make life easier in many way! I know I can import things...I may just want to copy/paste, though, so I can do some editing along the way. First three up now, however. Oldest stuff first. :-p

Yes, don't leave LJ! It would be a lot duller without you! *squishes*

(Although I must confess that I did get excited about the possibility of being able to download all your fic to my Kindle from AO3, which means I can take it everywhere with me! \o/)

No, I won't, I LIKE it here! *squishes back* The community is fabulous. AO3 seems like a great fic resource, but not so much with the friend-making.

Heh. You will ALWAYS HAVE MY FIC WITH YOU. *ominous laugh*

Have started the process. Oldest stuff first, I think. First three up now...more to come, slowly...

I found the whole thing became quite addictive when I was uploading my massive backlog over there - there was a definite element of 'I'll just do one...more...fic...' after a while'! I think I just wanted to see everything uploaded in all its glory :)

Heh. You will ALWAYS HAVE MY FIC WITH YOU. *ominous laugh*

I'll be able to read it in my lunch breaks of I so desire! (And then think fast when colleagues ask me what I'm reading... *g*)

So, no one cares how many you upload in a given day, right? I've kind of been doing them when I have spare moments, but wouldn't want to, like, spam the archive. But since they *have* things like importing tools, they must not mind people doing a lot at once...?

Sounds like excellent lunch breaks! And, hey, at least *some* of it's rated PG! :-p

(Might be new fic up today. Very short James + kilt = awesome fic. We'll see how busy today's advising hours are...)

\o/ yay for AO3. The nice thing with AO3 is all your long fic with chapters can be under one thing, instead of each chapter getting it's own separate post. And things within a series can all be linked together.

I don't know how the LJ uploader/transfer thing works. I've only ever copy and pasted because I didn't know such a thing existed. Then again I don't have nearly as much fic as you do so it might be easier for you than my method. And you're so lucky to have so many people to help you. Having just learned of some things (such as the Lj thing) I feel like maybe I'm not the best person to attempt to help you. I haven't played enough with AO3 apparently. Oops.

So much yes to this. I've just barely started posting the fic there, and I'm already in love with the organization. YES, PLEASE. And I'm going to need it, with the series stuff.

The uploader'd probably be easier, but I'm going to take this opportunity to do some editing of the older stuff. So, it might take longer, but...oh, well! It'll be better ultimately. But I shall definitely flail around and ask for help from you and everyone. New technology, what is this? :-p

The organization is one thing I really do like about AO3 which is the main reason I have yet to leave yet. Plus, extra backup for my fics since not everyone reads things on LJ anymore. At least I get feedback in some form. Though I still wish they'd do away with the hit count feature. Seriously dislike that thing.

That's always a nice bonus of copy and paste. Plus, I fight LJ so much with formatting and it still sometimes screws up so I'd hate for that screw up to get transferred over to AO3 through the uploader and I miss it. I will help where I can.

Yeah, I'm starting to be not a fan of the hit counter, already--in one sense it's nice to know people are looking, but that versus the number of kudos can be demoralizing. I'm just trying not to think about it, or rather to think about it as if I were starting all over in fandom again, and it's exciting to see even one person read the fic. :-/

Agreed, about the LJ formatting! I caught one very old missing scene break, this morning. Grr. (So much fic to post! Ah, well, it's good mindless task while watching tv or something...no one cares how many you upload in a day, right? not, like, spamming the archive or anything?)

YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!! I love AO3! Once you get everything posted over there, it will make it even easier for me to dl and keep all your fic organized my kindle! I'll still comment here on your journal of course. I like you here too. ♥ *runs off to stalk you on AO3* ;)

It seems like an awesome archive! I probably should've done it much earlier. :-p But I love the community over here on LJ, so, not leaving any time soon.

First three up there now! More or less oldest stuff first. Some of them could use some editing though...

Yaaaay! Congrats! ♥ I hope you'll enjoy all of the AO3 features! C: But regardless, I'm glad that LJ would be your primary journal- AO3 is just a wonderful addition~

:D It seems so well organized! I love it! But of course I'm not leaving LJ any time soon; the friends over here *looks at you* are too fantastic to give up. (Er...side note...I am not at all assuming that you would continue, but: have gotten the paid-account-expiration email warning of doom, so... *inquiring look*)

*starts slowly posting oldest fic to AO3*

*beams* *squishes you with tons of my love* I can't leave LJ, either. (Oh, I will, don't worry ♥ Thank you for reminding me! Will do that right now!)

*waits for fics, so that I can fav THEM ALL!!*

Edit: Done! It's for 6 months now. I figured it would be better?..

Thank you!! *all the love* I am totally your Kept Woman. I do not mind at all. Though I do feel like I should write something nice for you...

Some of the older stuff is up now. Figured I'd start with the older ones, just like over here, and slowly get caught up...there may, however, be new fic over here sometime today. James + kilt. *tantalizes*
