and even more random mcfassy fic!

So, my plan for today was to finish and submit my book chapter for this collection of academic essays, and then to work on the Erik/Charles werewolf story. I did finish my article. And then I proceeded to write four thousand words of James/Michael AU in which they meet on the Tube and there's pastries and flavored coffee and protective Michael and ( Read more... )

Thanks!! This was one of those stories that just turned up and demanded to be written, all in one draft; I don't think I even changed more than a few words before posting it! And protective!Michael and bakery!James are awesome together, and totally go on to have fabulous courtship involving fast cars and elaborate culinary surprises and complicatedly flavored coffee and true love. :-p

Glad you liked all the fluff! :D :D

He IS gorgeous, isn't he? I can't take credit; I didn't make it! That one was made by lunafille, I believe; I have a few of hers. :-)

I keep watching his fingers, in yours! They're mesmerizing!

What she said! *points to foofighter0234's comment*

This is so sweet I could just eat it up! I love that neither of them realizes the other is interested and then when they do finally talk how shy and adorable they are together. Of course protective!Michael is always a bonus. ;) You write the best fic, hands down. That's all there is to it. ♥

Sweet is totally the best description of this one, I suspect! Pastries, James's coffee, protective Michael, first kisses...ALL of the sweet. And they totally have an adorable courtship involving fast cars and spectacular meals and desserts and delicious coffee and James jumping on Michael on the couch, after Michael's been trying so hard to be a gentleman. :-)

You write the best fic, hands down. That's all there is to it. ♥

All the happy faces. All of them. Thank YOU for still reading, you know! I am always happy to see that you like something, because I trust your taste about good fic--so it's like a mark of approval! :-)

Your ability to write so much fic so quickly is astounding and I may be just a tiny itty bitty bit jealous. But your fic is always my favorite fic. And this was utterly adorable. This was very nice to read and much needed.

I...reward myself for academic work by...writing non-academic things? Which of course means I do quite a lot of writing... *laughs* But it's a different kind of writing, of course.

Always your favorite? Really? Because yay compliments of awesome. (True: I still am nervous posting fic, especially when it's not something I normally write. I hover nervously and wonder if anyone will read it...)

Much needed? School being difficult? (I know I've yet to answer your last message. I got a flood of grad students over the last two days. This quarter is...being very different; I'm not teaching but I'm in charge of our brand-new Graduate Writing Center and so ALL OF THEM come into my office or email or leave things in my mailbox and want advice! And I'm only a year out of grad school myself!) But I promise I am here, even if it takes me longer to respond than it did over the summer. I do still care. Always will. :-)

I'm avoiding homework by writing fic but normally I do an hour or so of homework (depends on the homework if I can finish it in less than an hour than I start on fic sooner or if I can finish it in a little over an hour I usually do) and then at least half an hour of fic than back to homework ( ... )

Hooray for dedication! I'm not good at actually scheduling blocks of time, because sometimes I'll sit in front of the computer for an hour and stare, or other times the paper/story/review will be going really well and I'll just want to keep writing till it's done! But that's not actually as well organized as your system. :-p ( ... )

Yay, thanks! :D :D This one just turned up in my head, out of nowhere, but I like it--I love writing protective!Michael. It somehow feels natural, even when they've only just met. And James IS beautiful, of course! I think we'd all share Michael's sentiments, spotting him on a train.

Thanks for reading, and for lovely compliments! Glad you liked! :-)

So, much as I want to read more of the werewolf fic, I'm so glad you wrote this because it is just perfectly adorable, and has given me a severe case of the warm and fuzzies!

I think we all secretly have a fantasy like this, don't we - spotting a gorgeous stranger, and then your eyes meet across a crowded room/train/coffee shop, and there's an instant connection that turns out to be no less meaningful for being instant (although I have to say my version fo fantasy doesn't involve the scary third wheel, obviously!). Never going to happen in real life, of course, but it is a nice fantasy... :)

And it's also a sort-of bakery!AU, in which James makes amazing cinnamon rolls (and god, do I now want one of Starbucks' cinnamon bun things!), and Michael test drives race cars (down girl! *g*), nd everything is sweet and fluffy, in both figurative and literal ways!

Yes, this one just turned up in my head and demanded to be written! (Watch, next week I will be able to write nothing at all...) The boys were very insistent. Not that I mind, I suppose. I do like how this one came out. :-)

Oh, absolutely. I think we want to believe that the randomness of the world can be benevolent, that sometimes we're just in the right place at the right time with the right person, and the sparks will last forever. We know that's so rarely true...but that's why we love to believe that it can be, at least one time, somewhere. (Minus the scary third wheel, yes. But I do love how instinctively protective Michael is, of his James. And James is a bit shaken--though obviously all right--and appreciates the support ( ... )

Characters get like that, I've noticed - anyone would think we weren't in control of them!

they go on to fall in love and have an amazing courtship involving fast cars and elaborate meals and blissful desserts. They visit every one of the restaurants on Michael's wish list, and James learns to ride a motorbike, and Michael proposes to him in a Starbucks, with a pumpkin pastry and a simple gold ring, and James says yes, always, and they both try not to cry but eventually do anyway, and Kevin's not even annoyed when James is late to work the next day. :-)

Even this brief outline is making me sniff a bit (although I tried not to, like the boys!). Honestly, I'm so terrible, I cry at everything, and happy things just as much as sad ones...

NOW I MUST WORK ON THE DRATTED WEREWOLF FIC. BEHAVE YOURSELF, STORY. :-/

Oh dear, it's like that is it? *waves pompoms of encouragement*
