Oh my goodness, your book made money? \o/ *shock and awe*
Also, take the free car. You can always trade it in or something if you really cannot stand it after a while, but it is free and that is the important thing.
I KNOW, right?! Granted, it's about $26, but STILL. People bought it! *is flabbergasted*
Yeah, I think that's what we're going to do...it'll be worth a decent amount if we trade it in, and then we can get something we like. It's just that that means at least three weeks of either carlessness or rental (well, two weeks--one week we'll be in England so it won't matter), since my mom needs time to buy herself a new one. (She wanted to anyway, just not quite this immediately.) At least teaching doesn't start for another month, so I don't really have places I *have* to go. And I suppose free car > two weeks of no car!
I can't believe September's come around (or nearly come around!) so quickly! I'm so looking forward to seeing you! *dances around in excitement* Must check train times for getting into London, actually...
This is the second time that's happened, and it'll never not cause me to jump up and down in the living room with glee.
I can't even imagine what it feels like to know that someone bought a book that you wrote - amazingness! \o/
Boo hiss to being sick though! Germs suck! :(
Also, kind of agree on taking the car thing. It is free, after all, and there's no point in spending the money on a new one yet if you don't have to... Even if it does mean a couple of weeks of carlessness (says the girl who would probably freak out without a car for two weeks!)
This summer went by so fast! I'd thought that not teaching would give me lots of time, but suddenly it's nearly September and I feel so not ready for fall term to start! (Can I have another month...?) But at least I get to see you! *dances with you* All the fun things
( ... )
I'd thought that not teaching would give me lots of time, but suddenly it's nearly September and I feel so not ready for fall term to start!
Oh god, tell me about it! It's only 2 1/2 weeks until our students start appearing again, and as I go back to my old job on Monday, that gives me two weeks to get back up to speed with all that before I have to start dealing with students!
so random people must really be interested!
And that's the best feeling! (I get a shadow of that feeling when random people give me really nice feedback on my fics) But the people who returned it? Well, clearly they are not appreciating your genius, silly people! :)
At least I'm *not* teaching right now, so I don't technically *have* to go places--but it's sort of...unnerving not having the ability to!Oh, I know what you mean! Knowing that you can't just hop easily into the car if you need to go somewhere can make you feel a little trapped, I find. You don't realise how much you rely on a car until it's not there. Still, free car should make it
( ... )
Oh, wow, that doesn't sound like much prep time, for you! Especially with the imminent Student Onslaught. I can sympathize.
I love the random people! They will never know, but I do appreciate them. (I'm just going to assume the two returns were, like, someone accidentally ordered an extra copy, or something... *laughs*)
Still, free car should make it worthwhile, no? That's the hope! At least Awesome Husband doesn't mind driving places in the evening, if we need to go out, so it's not entirely like being trapped. Only a little bit. :-p
The sore throat part went away, but we're definitely on to sniffling and sneezing and being pathetic. Clearly this week needs to be over already, for both our sakes! At least I have finished the fic. It should be up momentarily. :-)
Ooo, have fun in England!! And congrats on your book!!
And seriously, how else would you eat a carrot?
That sucks about your car. I'd say take the free car so you can trade it in, and also have more time to research what kind/model/year/etc of car you really do want.
I hope you don't get sick!! *sends good thoughts and tea*
Two weeks away! It's starting to feel near! *is excited* I was just back there last year, but we were up in Yorkshire and didn't spend much time in London, so this will be fun. It's been a few years since I HAVE spent any time in London, actually, and Awesome Husband's only had the few hours we spent walking around before hopping on a train, last summer
( ... )
Ooooh, have fun in England! I would be jealous, but I'm going on another historic house tour right around the same time.
Congrats on the book! How awesome is that?! \o/
Ugh, car troubles. I'm taking mine into the shop tomorrow, although it's nothing as bad as the transmission - at least I hope not! I would definitely take a free car if someone offered it to me. ;)
Oh noes! Get well quick, sweetie. *sends tea and hugs* ♥
Yours sounds fun too! All the history! We'll have to compare pictures. :-)
It's always awesome! *excited faces* I mean, it's not a lot of money--basically enough to buy us dinner at a decent chain restaurant, like, oh, Chili's, or something--but still. A check! For writing a book! What is this craziness! *laughs*
Fingers crossed that yours is something easy! Cars exist to make our lives more troublesome, I suspect, and yet we can't live without them...
Mmm, tea. *accepts tea and hugs gratefully* Those things have to magically help, right? :-)
I also feel honored to have gotten to know you. You've been extremely kind and wonderful both with writing and with my school nervousness. If I ever get the chance to meet you, I'd very much like to. Mostly so I can hug you properly for all the help you've given me. It's also been extremely inspiring to see that you do everything you do and still participate in fandom because I've been forever afraid that would be the thing I'd have to lose because of school
( ... )
This fandom, and everyone, has been so welcoming and friendly to me, that it'd be hard to be anything else in return! I think I've been extremely lucky to have made lovely friends--like you--who put up with me writing All The Things and occasionally babbling about my life and my cat and my husband. *hugs you* Let me know if you're ever in Southern California...we've got a spare bed and an Evil Demon Cat
( ... )
I love that you write All The Things. I try to do that, but I'm slower about it because I have less focus, at least lately. Last night alone I worked on 3 separate fics within 2 hours. I don't know if I'll be in Southern California (I am not good at geography) but I will be in California probably next summer sometime to visit family. Primarily in San Francisco but maybe other places, too. Most of my mom's side of the family live all over California
