The potluck is well attended and it seems that practically all residents have arrived, each with a side-dish or dessert to contribute. For example, Amy knows that Chris will bring fruit salad because Trish was making it for him. She also knows that A.J will bring pasta salad because Christy was making it for him. Likewise, Josh will contribute another fruit salad because Jamie made it for him. The redhead isn’t sure as to who made John’s contribution but she’s willing to bet it wasn’t him, Randy or Punk.
“Never knew there were so many kids,” Tyson commented, the two siblings securing a bench. “Unless they put all the families in one half of the complex?”
“And all of the ruffians, miscreants and us on the other?” Amy quipped, digging into the stir fried tofu on her plate. “Quite possibly. I know I haven’t really seen any kids on our floor.”
Tyson snorted, “Unless you count the idiots on the second floor…”
Amy rolled her eyes, helping herself to one of the vegetable kebabs on her brother’s plate. “Now they wouldn’t count because I was talking about our floor… and besides, Ty, I don’t see why you have such a problem with them.”
An eyebrow arched, “seriously? Have you already forgotten about being stranded in Tijuana?”
“Ty… that was in high school. We were younger and stupid.”
“Speak for yourself.”
Amy huffed, “look, I get that you’re just trying to look out for me and Chris, but you really don’t need to, okay? We’re both more than capable of taking care of ourselves.”
Tyson narrowed his eyes, “and how do you explain hitchhiking along the coast, huh?”
Amy shrugged, “we really needed to get to the concert, the car was broken down and we didn’t have the money to get it fixed.” Smirking slightly, she continued, “None of us returned any worse for the wear, so no harm, no foul.”
Tyson shook his head and then shot his sister a suspicious look, “none of them are coming tomorrow, are they?”
“A.J probably but that’s because mom loves him….”
“Anyone else?”
Amy pinched her brother’s cheek, “you’ll just have to wait and find out.”
Tyson groaned, muttering under his breath about little sisters scheming against him. Granted, maybe it wasn’t quite as bad as when Amy and Christy had been in high school, but that still didn’t mean that he enjoyed this.
