This will be a largely non-spoilery Doctor Who post.
Does anyone else miss RTD?
Yes, I am loving Amy. Yes, I am loving Eleven. Yes, I am loving the clever plots (except for the Dalek episode, which sucked monkey balls, and the Angels two-parter was underwhelming). However, I'm just not feeling much this season

like, i loved all Moffat stories before, they were in my eyes just so much better than all RTD ones, so i had high expectation for this series, but it's sooo sucky so far? :/ i just don't get it! especially the daleks episode! WTF!!!
i'm still waiting for that moment something big is going to happen which will make it all alright, something huge and amazing and mindblowing. but something also tells me it's not going to happen.

Like I said: I like most of the plots, they're very clever, and I love the characters and the tone of the series, but it doesn't resonate with me.
Also: the overarching theme is so fucking heavy-handed: people complained about RTD spelling everything out for us but every single episode except the last one it's been OMG GUYS CRACKS IN THE UNIVERSE AND THEY BRING SILENCE. REMEMBER THIS. IMPORTANT! THIS IS A PLOT POINT RIGHT HERE!
Also I think I'm gonna miss epic RTD finales - the first part being THE BEST EVER OH MY GOD and the second being: ....wait, that was it?

I'm not all the way caught up with Doctor Who, I think we just finished the Angels episodes, but it is different. I kind of like it. It's shallow, entertaining sort of fun without too many deep emotional revelations. And for now, that works for me. Eventually, I'm going to want more from my show, but I feel for now we're in sort of a honeymoon period and trying to get to know the characters. But I am only a bit into the season.
However, I don't really like how they don't refer to any past events at all. It makes me sad! I know the Doctor still thinks about past events and companions, and I'd love to see a little bit more of that. He's lived hundreds of years, he has to occasionally think of the past.
