Feeler for Potential Venture?

So I wanted to see what people thought about a chocolate making venture I'm considering. It would almost definitely be through etsy first, then potentially expanding to include a website and somesuch. I would buy my chocolate from a supplier that does it's own processing and roasting, hand temper the chocolate myself, cast it in molds and fill it ( Read more... )

I'm too lazy to sign back in as astaria51.

Um, anyway: THEY SOUND FANTASTIC AND I WOULD BUY THEM. except then I would be sponsoring you in exactly the wrong way. So instead I will eat all the cracked ones.

Yup.

I love you, and you are beautifully creative. And yummily creative. That sounded a bit dirty...oh well.

That is to say, I have an adventurous palette and would give you my best feedback once I'd gotten some. Some of the blends sound a little weird, but in my experience, weird is usually good. I've never tried avocado + chocolate, but it could be nommy.

Yeah, some of them I know for sure will work, others I highly suspect will because either they work within other cuisines or because similar combinations work. The avocado seemed mild and creamy enough to work well with other flavors, and I've had jalapeno chocolate somewhere before, but I don't remember where.

I want to make vegan chocolate eventually using vegan chocolate and soy based ganache!

I'm here from Astaria's journal! I think that sounds kind of marvelous. I don't personally think I'd have cause to spend money like that on chocolate, but I think there's a definite market for it. Especially if you can offer that range of flavors and you're doing them all hand made. People love things like that.

That's what I'm trying to figure out now. On the one hand, that would allow people a lot of flexibility in choosing their box of chocolates. On the other hand, I really want to start out offering only 2-3 of the collections because the ingredients for making this stuff will set me back at least $100 base + filling fruits/spices/cream so for the cheapest three, I'm going to spend at least $150 to get started. Then I wanted to add collections as I made some money back.
