Yes, thank you! I don't want to step on anyone's toes, but seriously, what's with the comedy hate? And you're absolutely right, it's supposed to be a family show! There's something for everyone in it. I'm not one for angst, but when Colin does it, or Bradley, oh god.... I mean, I tear up, yes, but they are such good actors that it's hard to look away sometimes.
And what you said about plot is right, too. A good show has everything in it.

Comedy draws me into shows too. That's why I love(d) Xena so much (I still do, but haven't watched an episode in a while).

i love Merlin's humour! Definitely one of the things I look forward to in every ep.

actually when i first started watching merlin I had no idea it was going to be funny. Every one was all OMG!!! THE SLASH so I started watching and was so pleased/surprised that I was giggling/smiling through so much of every show.

Me too! What's wrong with having a break in the angst and seriousness?

Yup, same here! I started watching for the slash too, and when I saw it wasn't a super serious show and the face that Colin and Bradley are just too pretty and lovely and wonderful, I fell hard for the show. :)

I love the humour in Merlin. It definitely wouldn't be the same show without it! If I wanted to watch a show that is depressing all the time then I would watch... something else. Merlin is great because of the humour and the fact that it's something that you can watch no matter which age you are and you'll still get something out of it. Pretty much all of my favourite shows have comedy elements to them and it's awesome.

Same here. My favorite shows usually have comedy in them, or are comedy shows. :) I love anything with comedy and stuff to make me laugh, because real life is just too depressing to watch something with overly depressing tones in it. XD

I can't wait to see the next Merlin! :)

You're definitely not alone!
I laughed so much when Arthur dumped the bucket of water on Merlin's head.
Then again, I'm infamous in my group of friends for once kicking a puddle so it covered my best friend in icky rain water from head to toe.

I thought it was amusing, but at the same time I felt bad for Merlin. There's some of that in Merlin, I won't deny it, but most of the things they do for comedy are funny to me. :)

It's the classical comedy shtick, me thinks. Stepping on the running hose and then removing your foot when the person stupidly holds the end of the nossle to their face; laughing when someone falls or sudden disappears behind something; people or things popping up suddenly; pies in faces.... all of that. :)

I adore the humor in Merlin. It only bothers me every once in a while when I feel the ep is a little OTT like the goblin. But all the joking and the teasing and the hilarious antics that ensue really do make me adore the characters that much more.

What's OTT?
I understand about the goblin episode too. The way Gaius was acting, you wonder why no one seemed to notice how drastic he changed, and it gave me very eerie feelings in my stomach. Colin's acting was great though, and I liked the scene where Merlin was brought against the king because of goblin!Gaius trying to get Merlin into trouble using some other magic book, and the comedic timing Colin had in saying how Gaius was possessed by a goblin, and I also liked when Arthur realized that Merlin was telling the truth.
:)
That makes me adore the characters more too, when they show the more humanistic side of things, especially the relationships the characters have with each other...when it's done right of course.

OTT = Over The Top

Sorry!

What I didn't like about the goblin episode was the reliance on the fart gag too much. All the rest of it (including Gaius slapping Uther's head) was pretty hilarious.

I didn't know that one. There's too many obriviated things on the web. XD

I guess the fart gags were for the younger audience. Bradley's face though, after Gwen let one, was funny. When they were farting, I was like "omg, what?" but the look on Arthur/Bradley's face was what made me laugh. XD But yes, the smacking of Uther's bald head had me in hysterics!
