Pan's Labyrinth comes out on DVD tomorrow and I can't wait to rent it. Sorry for late crashing a post but foreign movies! Love.

I love After Life, but I’m biased towards anything that deals with limbo/a limbo-esque experience. In that same kind of indie feel, there’s Man on a Train, which I find quirky and revealing, but I would understand if someone found it slow and wtf.

Um, I can’t tell from your profile if you’ve ever watched/liked ridiculous crack sports anime, but if so, then Ping Pong. Also, I can’t tell if you’d enjoy violent movies about classmates being forced to kill each other on an island field trip of doom, which is usually so apparent from lj profiles, but Battle Royale is definitely on top in this category (beating out exactly one other movie, I think. Which, don’t see the sequel, unless you like watching horrible movies with your friends.)

Or, if you’d like to skip the weird and move onto classics, there’s Seven Samurai. (Kurosawa is definitely a safe bet for awesome.) You might also like Farewell, My Concubine, crazy angst fest that it is. The same director later made The ( ... )
