I've Got No Extraordinary Cards in My Hand

Happy birthday to my BFF, Tina!!! ♥ ♥ Hope you have a good one!

Pan's Labyrinth comes out on DVD tomorrow and I can't wait to rent it. I'm still kicking myself for not seeing it in the theater, but considering how big our new TV is, I'm sure the experience will be more or less the same. :) Speaking of movies, I've been on a real foreign film kick lately. I recently watched and enjoyed Volver (which everyone should see) and The Edukators.

I'm itching to rent some more, so my question for everyone is: What are your favorite foreign films?

Some of mine: Amélie, Lola Rennt, The Princess and the Warrior, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, and Love Me if you Dare.

Heroes tonight. I'm equal parts excited and scared. Why must TV be so stressful these days?

Oh, and in case you haven't heard the news yet,

From Scifi.com:
NBC Orders Second Heroes Series

NBC announced that it has ordered six segments of a new series called Heroes: Origins, which will air in the main show's Monday-night timeslot when it goes on hiatus, Variety reported.

The new series will center on new characters that haven't yet been introduced on the original show, and will feature an interactive element. Viewers will have a chance to vote for their favorite character, who will later cross over to the regular Heroes.

According to Variety, the move is intended to avoid repeats, which have been earning record low ratings this year on all five networks.

I'm not really sure how I feel about this. On the one hand it'll be good to get a Heroes fix during the hiatus, on the other, this all feels very gimmicky. I'm a bit weary about the whole "vote for the next character" bit since I think a new character should be mapped out long before a season starts and also because, inevitably, the character I like the most won't make it. I was perfectly content with the online content NBC had been planning; this seems like too much. Oh well, I'd rather this than Kring making the show about all new characters every season.
