It Would've Been, Could've Been Worse Than It Had Even Gone

Apr 05, 2007 12:49

Tuesday afternoon I decided that I couldn't take the wait any longer and purchased New Moon. At 1:40 in the morning, I finished it. I SERIOUSLY COULDN'T PUT IT DOWN, YOU GUYS! NO JOKE! Whenever I thought I could quit for the night something big would happen and that was the end of me for another hour or two.

Some quick spoilery thoughts )

books: twilight, movies

I know exactly what you mean about the Jacob thing! I love him a hundred times more now that I've read New Moon. I'm not completely a Jacob/Bella 'shipper yet, I still love her and Edward. Even thought what you said about them is totally true. I wish she could be with both of them and everyone could just be happy. I hate that someone will get hurt no matter who she chooses. :(

I'm glad there are some other Jacob fans out there. I was sort of shocked to find that most of the fandom loathed him. I honestly don't understand where all the hate is coming from, but oh well.

I've read/seen my share of love triangles before but I don't think I've ever been this torn about one of them. You're right, someone will definitely be hurt no matter what happens and I really don't want that to happen. I like all of the characters too much for that. :,(

LMAOOOOOOOooooo! That's hilarious! I was thinking of something along the same lines when I read that Edward was trying to piss of the Volturi.

You know what the coincidence here is? I just spent today reading Twilight. Bella/Edward feels like OMG!TrueLoveForever and it kind of does annoy me at times. Bella does seem more human *coughevilandinterestedcough* with Jacob...at least there seems to be hints for the future.

But really, I wonder about how long Bella/Edward are going to last, what with her inferiority complex and the fact that yes, she will age and not be as nubile and shiny.

It didn't quite have the magic that I felt when I first read Anne Rice's Lestat. The characters aren't as magnetic. Still, it was an easy read and for a vampire novella, not as cliched.

Finding a vampire series I *love* has yet to happen. *sigh*

Precisely. I've always had a problem with "OMGSOULMATES!!111" in fiction. I enjoyed Bella/Edward, but there were times where it felt like I was reading a really cheesy romance novel. She is much more likely to have a future with Jacob especially since, you know, she doesn't have to become a member of the undead for it to happen.

I think that's the thing that's bothering me the most about the pairing at the moment--that the only was they can continue on is if she is turned in to a vampire. She is very
annoying adamant about it and already totally freaked out because now that she's a year older than Edward was when he was turned.

I've never read Anne Rice's
Lestat, so I can't really comment there. But I agree with you on the other point.

Same here. Vampires are fascinating to read about and have so much potential but I have never read a novel/series about them that hasn't annoyed me in some way. :/

When I came to the end and Bella made the realization that Yay she'll finally be turned, but noo! if she does, the vampires are breaking their treaty, and then ahh! they'll be killed by the werewolves! I was thinking "oh shit" haha because that really sucks for her! I love BellaxEdward!!

That last scene where Jacob and Bella are reaching out their fingers just to try and touch each other, but then Edward pulls her back. That scene just got me. Bella just wants to be friends with him but she can't. =\

I can't wait for Eclipse either!!

Did you read the excerpt of Midnight Sun (Twilight from Edwards pov)? Even though it's just a rough draft chapter, it looks sooo good!!

I know! It's so damn complicated! I really do wonder where the author is taking all of this because I don't see a way that it can end well.

That scene killed me too. :( I don't feel too bad for Bella in that situation though, since she has done more of her fair share of giving Jacob "the wrong impression" to get him to do favors for her. Just...ugh, I'm so torn about how I feel about this love triangle.

Yep! I loved
Midnight Sun as it answered some of the questions I had about Edward's character after
Twilight. She is planning on continuing it and publishing it eventually, right?
