Comment: Linked to the drabble A Reason. This has Kazuki's POV. This came to mind as I was listening to Streets on Fire, by Lupe Fiasco do listen to it if you will while reading this.

The Reason

He was his only reason for being there every morning.

The sole source of light in the pitch darkness of his world.

“Good morning to you Kazuki” he'd flawlessly reply,

and hope would stop feeling like such a distant thought after all.

If it weren't for him, for that smile,

there would be no point wasting time there, in that office,

instead of joining his people in their fight to better the world;

in their macabre and lawless ways.

He might have not agreed with any of their mannerism,

but there was also no point arguing with hopelessness and madness.

Thus, to avoid those tormented souls,

he escapes and hides into the same world his people sought to destroy.

He minds not the distracted driver as he walks out of his workplace,

the shit he hurriedly steps on his way to the station,

the usual pushing, shoving, and molesting groping inside the train cabin.

Because there is still some light lingering inside,

from that genuine smile, that new hope, which however,

it's doom to fade, once in his neighborhood.

Its filth, its darkness, its forlornness sticks to him,

inevitably, like a virus it spreads,

almost taking him over completely,

safe for his heart; it is faint but hope is still there.

However, as he walks into his apartment,

he knows that hope is far from save,

not in the premises of his brother,

the leader of their people, their main source of hopelessness and madness.

“They will never accept us ...” his brother states,

snatching away that little bit of hope for the day.

Yet, another hopeless night begins.

AN: I love Lupe Fiasco, and this two drabbles came to be as I was listening to the song I mentioned in the comments. They just came out, and even though this stories are set in a Gotham city type of setting, I think that any situation in life can sort of make us feel hopeless in that way without having to have streets on fire! Lol Thanks for reading hope you enjoyed them both.

Much Love -LnK♥(~_^ )/-
