Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow ~ unless I'm driving!

Dec 02, 2009 12:04

Blood donation was a no-go again, and the only stat I have to report is my hemoglobin: too low to register according to my right hand, 10.5 per my left (no, I don't expect anyone to care, I just keep track of whatever "free checkup" stats I get on this blood tag!). I totally stole a bag of Cheez-its on the way out, though :D ( Read more... )

blood, kittehs, not my cats, wasting food is evil, wtfbbq

First, my obligatory comment...60's is NOT cold.

Second, driving in snow is FUN!!!! It's ICE that I dislike.

Third, I don't remember approving you being off next Friday!!!

60s is cold when it's the HIGH temp!

Okay, so it can snow, but not long enough for the roads to ice up, then. YOU HEAR THAT, FLAGSTAFF WEATHER?

Oh, sorry, I asked my boss, but not you! Can I take Friday the 11th off please?

Since I only work half days on fridays I'll allow you to take it off...this time. Next time make sure you get permission first!

Something about snow in NM? I'll have to look when I get home, my work computer has decided it doesn't like that link!

Yeah, the link I first clicked on read "snow in desert town" so of course I had to check to see if the town was on Tatooine where you live!

The last time I saw snow here (well, in the metro Phoenix area) was the early 90s. I know because I was still babysitting "my kids" and we were all excited about it, tried to save some flakes in the freezer and everything. It was the kind of snow that melts when it hits the ground, so no white snow blanket or anything.

WHIIIIIIIINE! My boss is having a holiday get-together at her house on the 11th and I'm off that day. She'd thought about rescheduling it when I told her why I wanted that day off, but she didn't. Never mind that I told her not to on my account. *pout* AND everyone gets to leave early! NO FAIR! Why can't she schedule these things around my schedule? WHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINE I'll have to slack extra hard on the 10th to make up for it!

Yeah, I should eat more spinach! I just had some on Thanksgiving though. And I had beef on Sunday. I mentioned that to the guy and he was like pffffft, that was ages ago. It baffles me, really, because I've stopped doing stuff like having popcorn for dinner (most days, anyway)... I'm eating healthier, my blood should be healthier!

I do a mean spinach with roasted tomatoes and steamed scrambled eggs on toasted turkish bread... Being a vegetarian I have to be hyper aware of my iron intake.

... wait, isn't you stomach "made of iron"?

That sounds delish! I'ma come visit you!

Ah, you noticed I mentioned that in this very post, hee! I can throw lots of stuff into it that most people won't touch, so yep, I think it's made of iron :) Too bad that doesn't leak into my blood.

Urgh, snow. I hate snow.

So, haemoglobin too low to donate, eh? Did they give you any idea why? Maybe it's a dietary deficiency.

Do you actually get snow? Or just lots of rain?

It's an iron deficiency. I need to eat more leafy greens and red meat. If I pass, I'm usually barely at the minimum (12.5). I think the time of month might be doing me in this time though too >.>

Depends, our weather is extremely variable, we get a bit of everything.

Do you take iron supplements? I'm willing to bet mine would be too low to give blood - last time I had an iron test done (because doctors love running blood tests on me), it was slightly low, even with supplements. (I eat red meat alllll the time, because that's what my dad makes. XD)
