Andromeda didn't find Astrology particularly interesting, but the pictures of the stars and their constellations were interesting enough. As she turned the page, Nymphadora flew over the sofa she was sat upon, her hair matching the trim of her robes. Andi's hand stopped halfway through its arc.
"Are you alright?" She was still staring, but she couldn't help it. The girl's hair was distracting enough without the acrobatics.

Tonks rubbed the side of her knee that had collided with the sofa and sat up. "Yeah, thanks," she said, wincing. "Just got over-excited there...Mu--Meda," she said, realizing who she was talking to.
She let out a nervous little laugh. "I'm used to tripping over things like that, don't worry." Would this Andromeda have problems with her hair? Her Mum didn't like it when she turned her hair into unnatural colors.

"Are you sure?" Her eyes fells to Tonks' knees and she frowned slightly, "You took quite the tumble."
And then she remembered her manners, "I'm sorry, it's not often one meets a Metamorphmagus. That is, well, I'm assuming you are..." She quickly shut her book and smoothed down her hair, anything to prevent embarrassment from showing.

"No, no," Tonks shook her head. Taking a tumble wasn't anything new to her. She never seemed to have inherited her Mother's grace. "I'm fine. I don't bruise anyway."
"Yeah, I'm a Metamorphagus," Tonks told her. "I don't know why I am. No one in my family is," she said simply, trying to avoid any actual facts and keeping things general.

"What level?" Andi shuffled through her memories of the past conversation to see if she'd missed something. "And thank you, really." That was probably one of the nicest things anyone had said to her since she started at Hogwarts. Also one of the most unrealistic, but a girl could hope.
"Don't mention it," she smiled and finally smoothed her hair down, "I don't pretend to be an expert but it can't hurt, right? There's also the fact I made a promise to myself to be... friendlier this year." There was an undeniable tone of guilt in her voice and she wondered how many of her housemates realised she had actually been avoiding them.

"I mean, I'm not a pureblood, so my parents aren't as worried about my marriage, as long as it's someone respectable," Tonks said. "You're welcome, though. I mean it," Tonks nodded. She really liked this Andromeda, too, and hoped all the best for her.
"Well, I haven't exactly gone out of my way to befriend you either," Tonks said apologetically. Well, yeah, because I was afraid you were like Bella. "Though we're friends now, and we can keep being friends."

"Oh," Andromeda flushed red, suddenly embarrassed. "You're not-- I didn't-- But that doesn't really mean anything, does it?" she managed at last. "Do you really believe that? That I'm on a different level?" She didn't want that. Not really. It was one thing when she was infuriated by Jasper trying to pour her coffee and another when she complained about general lack of decorum within the school, but she didn't mean it like that. Well, she did, but she didn't. It just doesn't apply to friends. How is that for a double standard, Andi? Stupid girl.
"That's alright. I've been... Well, a snob, to be frank. Pre-occupied with family values..." Circe, if my sisters could hear me. Though the idea of being friends brought a smile to her face. "I apologise in advance if I ever say anything insensitive," she said in earnest. "You may laugh, but it was only a few years ago that mother confessed Muggles were actually humans and that some of my nightmares as an infant were entirely unfounded."

"Well, I just...well, it's common knowledge around school that the purebloods are a step above the halfbloods," Tonks said. Or at least they think they are. "I mean...it doesn't really...well, there are certain rules that apply to you guys that we...halfbloods, that is...don't generally follow. Or I'm not exactly sure how to explain it. The lines are a little blurred," Tonks fumbled.
"Well, we all have a right to believe in what our family tells us. It's not like we know things before what they teach us, so we have to rely on what our parents and our family teaches." Tonks wasn't sure if that made sense. "Well, the point is...I don't blame you for not starting a Let's Hug Club."
