Andromeda didn't find Astrology particularly interesting, but the pictures of the stars and their constellations were interesting enough. As she turned the page, Nymphadora flew over the sofa she was sat upon, her hair matching the trim of her robes. Andi's hand stopped halfway through its arc.
"Are you alright?" She was still staring, but she couldn't help it. The girl's hair was distracting enough without the acrobatics.

Tonks rubbed the side of her knee that had collided with the sofa and sat up. "Yeah, thanks," she said, wincing. "Just got over-excited there...Mu--Meda," she said, realizing who she was talking to.
She let out a nervous little laugh. "I'm used to tripping over things like that, don't worry." Would this Andromeda have problems with her hair? Her Mum didn't like it when she turned her hair into unnatural colors.

"Are you sure?" Her eyes fells to Tonks' knees and she frowned slightly, "You took quite the tumble."
And then she remembered her manners, "I'm sorry, it's not often one meets a Metamorphmagus. That is, well, I'm assuming you are..." She quickly shut her book and smoothed down her hair, anything to prevent embarrassment from showing.
Ravenclaw - Nymphadora Tonksdramathique19September 19 2008, 21:02:38 UTC
"No, no," Tonks shook her head. Taking a tumble wasn't anything new to her. She never seemed to have inherited her Mother's grace. "I'm fine. I don't bruise anyway."
"Yeah, I'm a Metamorphagus," Tonks told her. "I don't know why I am. No one in my family is," she said simply, trying to avoid any actual facts and keeping things general.

"I suppose that is a blessing, in a way," Andromeda said in her attempt at finding a plus side to being clumsy, "I bruise too easily. If I fall over I emerge looking positively abused." She smiled - that was why she much preferred hexing her sisters than engaging in cat-fights. Mother could not tell quite so easily.
Tilting her head, Andi her wand and Banished her book to the nearest table. "I don't think they've established whether it is at all hereditary," she mused, "Although in some cases it does appear to be. For the most part I've always believed it to be random."
She raised a curious eyebrow, unable to keep an amused smile from her face, "Was there a reason you came down the stairs fast enough to fly over the sofa?"
Ravenclaw - Nymphadora Tonksdramathique19September 19 2008, 21:19:05 UTC
"Yeah, Mum's always careful, too," she said thoughtlessly. Tonks came to an abrupt stop. "...because she bruises very easily as well, like you. Yes. That's why."
Tonks straightened out her legs and looked at her knee. It was turning red. She frowned and stared at it. The redness went away. "There. Good as new," she said. "It has to be, that's the only explanation in my case. Though they've told me my son is a Metamorphagus. I haven't met him, though. Seems to be avoiding me. Not that I'm too keen on meeting him or his father, anyway."
Tonks rubbed the back of her head and smiled. "Yeah, I was going to visit Jasper in the hospital wing. But...you know, that can wait." She honestly preferred to sit here and speak to her non-mother than stare at a stone Jasper. Though she was concerned about Jasper.

"At least I'm not the only one," she smoothed out her skirt.
"Is it actually good as new or did you just make it appear that way?" Andromeda's tone was more than slightly disbelieving. "He may have his reasons for avoiding you," she began, tucking her wand up her sleeve, "And it is understandable that you should choose to avoid any future spouse - they might be unbearable at this age - but you shouldn't avoid your own child. Even if you are the same age as him." Her voice trailed off a little and she sounded rather absentminded by the end of the last sentence, but she was considering the chances of her sisters and cousins having children around. And herself, but that was a nagging voice she was trying to ignore.
"Oh, Temple," Andromeda managed to sound as concerned as was appropriate, although she wasn't feeling it at all. "That was most unfortunate... The Professors will have him fixed soon though. After all, they're only waiting for the Mandrake to mature." Did that sound reassuring? She hoped it did. The boy wasn't dead, anyway.

"Yes," Tonks said, agreeing with Andromeda. Sort of.
"Oh, it is," Tonks said. "Bruises come from ruptured veins or something or the other, so I make them come back together and stuff. It's a lot more complicated than just fixing my hair, but the same theory. Or something. Dad was the one who explained it. Kinda like...fixing myself. It's almost impossible to do with bigger wounds because it takes a lot of concentration, but it works fine for smaller things that don't hurt as much."
"Yeah, that's what Madam Pomfrey says," Tonks agreed. "Still, I can't help but be concerned over it. He's a good friend. And it kind of worries me that I couldn't do anything to help him."

Andi's eyes widened, "You can do that? No healing balms needed? Healing magic is sort of an interest of mine. I'm not very good, but I still have time to learn. It would be interesting to know if any Medi-Wizards had found a way to use that sort of magic."
"Sir Nicholas was there," she pointed out, "And Jasper would be dead if he hadn't been." Suddenly, she had to wonder why she'd been more saddened by the idea of a frozen ghost that a petrified boy. "I don't think any of us could have helped, though. You mustn't get yourself too upset over it, though. He isn't in any pain. He'll just wake up having missed a few months."
Ravenclaw - Nymphadora Tonksdramathique19September 19 2008, 23:53:11 UTC
"Just for the tiny things," Tonks said. "I can't do it with the big cuts because I'm far too distracted by the blood and the pain and everything else to focus on rearranging my cells or whatever it is I do. And it doesn't work on stuff caused by magic, of course."
"I'm not upset per se," she said. "Just, you know, I guess I'm sort of a sentimentalist or something."

Andromeda tilted her head, "No... No, you're just a good friend. Jasper is lucky to have such friends." Merlin knew she hadn't made the slightest effort, even with her own housemates.
"It's suits you, by the way," she gestured to Tonks' hair, "The colour, I mean. And the style, obviously."
Ravenclaw - Nymphadora Tonksdramathique19September 20 2008, 00:49:44 UTC
Tonks smiled. "Thanks," she said. "A lot of people would say I'm just wasting my time. But, even though I know he's doesn't know I'm there...I don't know," Tonks ended, scratching her head and grinning. She wasn't sure where that was going.
"Oh," Tonks grabbed her hair lightly. "Oh, thanks. I thought Jasper might like it. Yeah, I know he won't know," she cut Andromeda before she could say anything of the sort. "It was just a thought." Tonks smiled.

"I don't think you're wasting your time," Andromeda replied with a slight shake of her head, "It doesn't just help him, it helps you. He'll wake up after a few months and discover friends have been waiting for him. Meanwhile, you're there making sure he's still alright. Besides," she wrinkled her nose a little, "You're doing the most you can do for him and no one has the right to call that a waste of time." And this is why I'm in Hufflepuff, she thought slightly bitterly, although she could not help who she was. "Anyway, if you start to feel like you are wasting time you can always take work to the hospital wing with you. If myself or one of my sisters falls ill, Mother has been known to do her embroidery at our bedside when she's feeling... soft, for want of a better word."
"And it's the thought that counts," she answered with a rather brighter smile than previously. That was the first time she'd been able to use that phrase and actually mean it.
Ravenclaw - Nymphadora Tonksdramathique19September 20 2008, 01:16:00 UTC
Tonks smiled. She was actually beginning to see the Andromeda through the Black. "When I'd get sick, my Mum would sit at my bedside and make sure everything was just right until I'd get better. She didn't get any sort of embroidery or anything done, but she took care of me very well. Though, I'll take your advice and bring some things up there to do. Thank you."
Tonks couldn't help but grin as she actually began to saw what were the beginnings of her mother's attitude in the girl. There was hope for her after all.

"Your mother is a sensible woman," Andromeda locked her fingers across her lap and rubbed her thumbs subconsciously. Too many forgotten thimbles. "Embroidery is the bane of any woman's life. And she sounds... well, much more motherly than my own, but that isn't hard." She wrinkled her nose.
"I--Um..." She flushed pink in embarrassment before deciding to continue, "I was going to ask if you would sen my regards, but-- Well, would you?"
Ravenclaw - Nymphadora Tonksdramathique19September 20 2008, 18:23:32 UTC
Tonks stifled a loud laugh. She smiled. "My mother hates embroidery. She says the first thing she did after she married my father was burn all her embroidery tools. Of course, she still does a little embroidery here and there. She's actually very good. She does it for all our personal items, like Dad's handkerchiefs. They look splendid," Tonks was actually complimenting this Andromeda as well, though she couldn't say it.
"To Jasper?" Tonks' smile widened. "Of course. I'm sure he'd be glad to hear from you."
"Are you alright?" She was still staring, but she couldn't help it. The girl's hair was distracting enough without the acrobatics.
