[thoughtfully] I see. I'm afraid I'm not quite understanding how the science would be entering into this equation, however. Where did the escape route from the Mayor's House lead to the first time?

Around it? [Congratulations, Sophie, you have managed to stun him into near-silence for a moment. It doesn't last long, though.]

You mean a vessel to traverse the stars in, explore the universe...a place from which to boldly go where no one has gone before? Dare I say, you've been trapped in a spaceship?

[Spinelli claps his hands together, looking positively gleeful at the prospect.] Never in the Jackal's wildest dreams was there ever the hope that such a thing truly existed. There is the odd tale about it, of course, but...

[He could go on like that for a very, very long time, but there's the sound of a door opening, and another man's voice.]

Spinelli, I need you to get online and...what are you doing?

[A man with spiky blond hair and wearing a black t-shirt comes into view, and Spinelli turns, twisting his head to look at him.]

Stone Cold! I was just trying to assist this...

[The man waves a hand dismissively.] Never mind, I don't want to know. I need you to pull up that program you were working on. One of our shipments got hit, and we need to find who's responsible.

[Spinelli holds up a finger.] Of course! It will be but the matter of a few moments work to pull up the footage from the cameras.

Good.

[The man moves away, and Spinelli turns back to the the CAT.] I am afraid duty calls and I must go, but fear not. The Jackal

The moment I have any information, rest assured I shall pass it along to you through this device.

Until then, oh Interstellar One, the Jackal bids you adieu.

[Still typing on the keyboard of his laptop with one hand, he reaches over and turns off the CAT with the other.]

In my experience, most like yourself tend to start off with a "hello" before demanding answers of those who might happen to hold them.

[Jack takes a moment to furtively look to either side of him. Nobody. Who was she speaking to, then, if not him?

A town, yes, but not the town you seem to be showing me, love.

[After all, there's the sea around him as he's standing on the docks, the screams of birds and the shouts of shipmen and drunks nearby. That doesn't seem to be the sort of place this woman's in, if her choice in clothing didn't already clue him in to that. Jack's smile could -almost- be termed "wicked," if you squinted at it close enough.]

And what manner of witchery is it that lets you and I talk in the here and now, then, mm?
