Thoughts... meetings... and actions...

It didn't take long until he grew restless. There was a lot of people walking back and forth in the corridor, looking busy. All kinds. No demons so far, and for that Xander was grateful. He wasn't sure how he'd react if he saw a demon walk down the corridor discussing with a lawyer.... The thought alone made him grin. He thought about what that man ( Read more... )

Xander was on the right floor though, because Lilah's assistant Abby recgonized him from when they walked by her desk before. She smiled and waved him over to her desk. She figured he'd gotten a bit lost and was probably looking for her boss.

She smiled when he agreed to work at the firm even though he knew what they did, and that she knew things about his friends. "Great then all that's left is for you to sign a contract."

"OK. In blood then?" he joked. Wouldn't surprise him though, considering...

Lilah smiled at him when he started to joke about the blood. She pulled a stack of papers out and handed them over to him along with a pen. "Yes actually you sign it in blood." She kept the smile on her face.

Xander frowned. You really stuck your neck in it now... he thought. "I guess your not joking... I am sorry, then I won't sign it." he simply said.

The smile left her face at his words. "No I wasn't kidding, but it's really up to you as far as if you sign or not." She shrugged, but didn't move the contract from in front of him.

Xander gulped. Well, I am well and truly screwed now. If not in the literary sense of the word. He saw his friends faces in front of him.... Willow, Buffy... Giles... They had been able to trust each other. But that was then. Now was now. He'd abondoned them. And Anya... He looked up at Lilah, a stranger... Strangely understanding. Evil, he figured. But not the kind of evil he'd seen before. She intriged him, and he was drawn to her, he couldn't deny it. He needed this. Needed to stand on his own two feet. Not be the damsel in distress anymore.

Looking Lilah straight in the eyes, he said "Your dooming me." and grabbed the pen...

Lilah sat back and just waited for his ;ittle internal struggle to end. When it finally did she smiled at his words and sighed. "You're dooming yourself sweetheart, but then again everyone here has."

Her words got him curious... He had to ask her about that later. Looking down on the pen, he saw it was just... a pen. But... she said to sign in blood. How?

"So... How do I do it?"

She smiled and handed him a small pin and set a small glass jar next to it. "Just a small prick to the finger, then fill the jar with a little blood, then dip the pen in the jar and sign." She explained.

Oh. A mix between blood and ink then. He did as instructed. Grabbed the pin and pinched his finger. Small droplets feel down the jar (with his hope...) and he dipped his pen in it and signed the paper: Alexander LaVelle Harris. Now he really was screwed. And doomed. Somehow he didn't care. Only thing he felt sad for was that he was right now disappointing Willow.

"Alright. Now you have me. What you want to do with me now?"

He was still curious on what use they could have with him.

Lilah watched as he signed the contract, then she took it and buzzed Abby. A few moments later Abby came in and took the contract, it'd be taken down to human resources and processed.

Once Abby had left, Lilah turned to face Xander a small smile on her face. "Well Lindsey's in need of a new assistant, and he's been after Abby for a month now, so I'm thinking of letting him take her and you could replace her." She'd have Abby show him how things were done first of course, before giving her over to Lindsey.

Assistant? That could mean a lot off different things... "Alright. I could do that. Can I ask you something though..? You said everyone had doomed themselfs here, for one reason or another. How about you? What was your reason?" He was honestly curious. She was smart, beautiful, and could probably have the world, without dooming herself to an evil lawfirm.

She smiled and nodded when he said that he could do Abby's job. When he asked her why she'd joined the firm. She sighed and looked out her huge windows for a moment, before answering him. "It was a long time ago, and it doesn't really matter why anymore."

"Of course it matters. But I'll just ask you again." he smiled at her. It had been a long day, and despite dooming himself, he felt pretty good. He decided to send a letter to Willow when he got back to the hotelroom, just to make sure she didn't worry.

"So, do you need any assistance today?"

She didn't bother making a comment when said that her reasons for joining the firm mattered and that he'd ask again. When he asked her if she needed any assisting for the day, she shook her head. "Go see Abby and she'll give you the run down of everything you'll be doing."
