A fair assessment of what was actually going on, well written, might even have been in the script to give the actors more of an idea of how to play the scene.

Forgive my ignorance, I am new to this whole fan business. But I thought fanfiction was the re-writing of situations to bring about a alternate ending, or to make up something entirely different.

Like, instead of your last line, you would write something like, "He’s riddled with unjustified guilt when he looks at her again, and something inside him gives way. He picks up a nearby, sizeable rock, and bashes Kate's head in with it."

Am I way off base here? lol

LOL! yeah, lol, it could've gone that way.

I don't look at Fanfiction as restrictive at all. In my other fandom, X-Men, I do exactly what you said, I rewrite and re-do, but for some reason, I haven't approached the Lost fandom that way. I don't think I feel comfortable yet (maybe never).

I found that I like going deeper into the scenes and trying to explain random parts, basically. It's my way of figuring out/practicing characterization.

Thanks for explaining that.

I wish I could find the thread where cru5h and I had the cast LOST on the outer banks of North Carolina. And entire LOST meets The Dukes of Hazard thing popped out of that one. lol

This was very well written...I remember watching this scene and wondering whether or not Jack could ever bring himself to trust Kate after all the lies and deceit. Given the situation they're in, some level of trust would seem to be implicit - but that's a whole other story in itself. Excellent work!
