Russian-based hackers broke into a major fuel pipeline system recently and tried to force them to pay millions in ransom. Instead, the pipeline people shut it down for a few days to restart it safely. This has resulted in fuel shortages throughout the Southeast (from Texas to the Carolinas) and prices spiking as well as panic buying by consumers
