Please re-read this post; more information has been added

I'm moving ahead with planning my final photo project, after a general talk with my professor this evening. Once she okays the idea, I'll actually start doing some serious planning, but for now:

Technical details:

12 images, shot and printed in any method or combination of methods that we have used in class
Possibilities include:
-Shooting on either 35mm or 120 format film
Printing using:
-Cyanotype
-VanDyke
-Traditional printing
-Digitization of negative and printing

5 images matted or similarly presented

The non-technical stuff:

The theme I am working with is beauty. This body of work is going to be called "You Are Beautiful".

You Are Beautiful is an exploration of beauty in several of its forms. I am looking for "nonstandard" beauty: people who fall outside of what they're told is beautiful or desirable. I think you're beautiful, and I want to help you see that if you don't, and show (a small part of) the world that you are. As much of a cliche as it may be to say, you are unique and in your uniqueness, you are beautiful.

Things you should know about modeling for this series:

You will not be expected in any way to pose nude. If you feel comfortable doing so, or would like to in order to push your personal boundaries, that is completely fine. Just let me know, and I can make arrangements accordingly.

You may bring changes of clothes if you would like to pose in different outfits. You can bring props, if you feel that something you have is key to how you are beautiful. I don't know exactly how I'm going to communicate the theme, and not every image will be the same. I have an idea about showing real people in poses that mimic mainstream images of models, and possibly even poking at gender roles. Feel free to come and experiment with me.

Even if I digitize the negatives and print my images via printer, I will not be photoshopping anyone's appearance. I would like to shoot models without makeup, if possible.

I will need you to sign a model release form. We will discuss that before shooting begins.

Bottom line:

This is a positive, friendly environment, and the message these images will communicate will be positive. I want, ultimately, for people to think about their perceptions of beauty for all genders, and I think that we can do that together.

This is all due Thursday, May 14th. I need to be done shooting no later than the 7th, so that I will have time to print everything.

As soon as I get the go-ahead, I'll start getting in touch with the people who express interest in helping with this. Should this not be okayed, I'll post about that, too.
