Though the cannon police beg to differ, JRRT never really said one way or the other if Legolas was an only child. The Canon Police beg to differ with that statement. Anyone who knows their Tolkien knows that JRRT said very little about Legolas, which makes him such a wonderful character to speculate about. Nothing is known of his age -- He might have been born as early as the First Age or as recently as fifty years prior to the Ring Quest. Nothing is said about his marital status or his hair color. And nothing is said about any siblings. I've seen it argued quite logically both ways
