There are the obvious reasons-- it's in Spanish, it's such a slow and tedious process, it takes so much concentration... I mean really, I don't think I've ever concentrated on anything so hard for such a long period of time. So, uh, I'm in El Salvador. 2 weeks so far, 1 more to go. I went to an Evangelical Friends Meeting yesterday (only yesterday?) and despite not remotely resembling Quakerism as I know it, it made me miss my Quaker friends/the Gathering in general. Usually I see those folks once or twice a year and that's okay, but this year I want more.
