!!!
I'm trying really hard to be able to go to Monteverde at the end of the school year for a week to a week and a half, and I'm so excited! I got a phone card yesterday (and got ripped off, as Austin was kind enough to inform me) and today I called but only Jocy was there with Mimi. Ili was at work and Isa was in Guanacaste and Stefa was I don't remember where. But Jocy called Ili with the cell and Ili's gonna call me when she gets back from work (in about 45 minutes) (which in Tico time translates to from 45 minutes to an hour and 15 minutes). I was a little worried calling cuz I think my Spanish is getting pretty rusty with all this underuse, and I was worried I'd get Isa, who can talk pretty fast and might be a little hard to understand.... Although there was a time when I was living there when I felt fully confident calling complete strangers, and there was a time when I was mistaken for a Tica on the phone. Here, though, I never use my Spanish, except in conversations in my head (I had a lengthy discussion with one of my dance teachers in Spanish in a dream the other night).
Basically though, I'm really fucking excited. I think this would probably be the highlight of my summer.
Also, about this summer:
Austin may be living with us, if we can find him a job (keep your ears open, okay?) and if my parents decide it's okay.
I'll be going to my mom's cousin Chester's mansion (would he be my first cousin once removed then, or my second cousin? I don't know how these things work) for a family reunion of 3 or 4 days this summer. We haven't had a Steigerwald family reunion since I was 12. We used to have them every 5 years or so, although I guess this isn't so far off.
I am for sure going to El Salvador with Ruby for 2 or 3 weeks (3 if we can collect enough money for her to pay me a little bit, 2 otherwise) in the very end of July/early August. Sorry Chris. And Jamie; right now the idea is to leave July 29th (that's for the 3 week trip though, if we go for 2 weeks we'd leave a week later and then we'd be in town for Jamie and Chris's birthdays.
I am most likely *not* going to The Gathering, just because I'm blowing a bunch of money to go to Costa Rica, and unless I get a really lenient boss I probably couldn't get the time off, and work is my main priority. But that's kind of sad.
I just realized that Ili's going to be calling me around 1:30, and lunch closes at 2 cuz it's Saturday. :( I hope I don't miss lunch. I guess if I do I could make pancakes or something. Except I only have 1 egg, and no milk. Is IHOP inexpensive?
