AN: [x] This piece was inspired by the song “Dirty Little Secret” by Sarah McLachlan and the lyrics are: If I had the chance, love // I would not hesitate // To tell you all the things I'd never said before // Don't tell me it's too late // 'Cause I've relied on my illusions // To keep me warm at night // And I've denied in my capacity to love
[x] Big thanks to Dani for taking a look at this piece, always appreciate your thoughts, inputs and edits! xoxo
The languid music of Sarah McLachlan played softly in the background. Pillar candles were perched in freestanding hurricane holders, its amber glow the only light in the room. Buffy was curled on her couch, feet tucked underneath her body. One hand gently held the stem of a wine glass while the other wiped away the tears that spilled down her cheeks.
Nick would never talk to her again and she couldn’t blame him for it. He’d asked for honesty and she’d given him lies. She was too scared that if her truths were revealed he wouldn’t stick around. They never did. For the first time in awhile she wanted this particular guy to not leave her. She’d driven him away.
Green eyes narrowed at the knock interrupting her thoughts. Ignoring the noise she took a sip of wine but the noise continued. Placing her glass on the table she raised and moved silently to the door.
Looking through the peephole forced a gasp from her throat. Deft fingers quickly unlocked the door before swinging it open.
Nick’s throat tightened as he looked at her. Placing his large hand along her jaw he pulled her closer. “This time, no more lies.”
