[ He's back to his old self and right before the draft too. His excitement is dissipated by the onset of such knowledge. He's not terribly excited about the prospect of being sent out again either. Actually he's terrified, more so than last time. The reminder of dying from those shift hunters weighs heavily on him as he practices his water based spells by one of the bridges. It might be sloppy and unfocused at times as his mind drifts back and forth between the memories of what has passed. People walking by might see jets of water bursting into the air and hear the crackling of lightning as it sizzles and dances along the water's malleable skin. He doesn't want to go. He is not ready, not again, not for this. His face clearly shows it despite how hard he tries to conceal his obvious distress ( ... )

[Robert's terrified too, Helios. Even though he's told Grune about this, he's still afraid that he'll lose Helios again during this draft. Or someone else he loves - all his friends leaving again, except Don this time. At least the Malnosso left him Don.

Still... going on a walk hasn't completely cleared his head. So when he sees Helios near the southernmost bridge, he stops, watching him training. The arcs of water are almost beautiful, in a haunting way.

Finally, he breaks the silence.]

Helios...?

[His face betrays his worry.]

[ He hopes it doesn't come down to that. Helios really, really hopes. There's an arching spout of water that completely falls apart as Helios hears that voice behind him.

His face betrays his fear. He tries to mask it with a smile. ]

Ah. R-Robert. I-I suppose you, you heard.

[He always does that, doesn't he? Mask everything with a smile... Robert knows better right now, though.

He closes the remaining distance between them, slowly, and stares down at the river.]

Yes... I did.

[Edging closer, Robert tries to seek out one of Helios' familiar cool hands, his shoulders shaking just slightly.]

... I... I worry about you, Helios.

[Preparing for a draft is like putting on some worn boots by now. Sokka knows exactly what to do. At the smithy he sharpens his weapons until they're perfect. He polishes them until they gleam, as he does with his chainmail. In the end, though, he opts not to bring the chainmail. It was too much weight for a battle on the sea. His leather wolf armor is similarly brushed down, though he does that at home outside the house.

He hangs around the battle dome for a few session, to run himself through some battle drills or provide some crash course sailing lessons to anyone who needs them.

He also has people to visit. Best friends to say goodbye to, but some of them he'll be needing a favor from. He hates leaving Yue behind like this, so he'll be prodding some people to go spend time with her and have 'girl bonding time'.]

[Sometime after Katara has paid a visit, Nami will front up at the smithy, knocking once on the door frame before entering. One last ditch attempt to see if her weapons have turned up proper.]

Hey, Sokka. [Slightly hoarse, but eh.]

[Fortunately Sokka is out in the weapon display area, giving it one final look over before he starts heading out. So naturally, Nami is a bit of a surprise.]

Hey. You don't sound too good.

Had a cold this week. It's okay, I sound a lot worse than I feel. [And your sister is helping with the rest, now. Nami tilts her head and gives him a faintly hopeful look.]

I won't keep you long. Guess I wanted to check one last time. Any three piece blue metal staves turn up?

[Ganondorf will attend all the meeting, make his votes for captaincy, and even take a trial run in the Battle Dome. But the seven foot tall observer offers nothing. Were he a sailor, he would have put himself up for captain, but he knows all too well that he will be out of his element where he's going.

To those who wish to speak to him, he can be found briefly at the barracks, walking along the path to home, and for awhile perusing the smithy in hopes of locating old weapons.]

[ another day, another draft. and normally buffy would look forward to a big old bruise-up that she could sink her teeth into; however, her inexperience with battles-at-sea has her all shades of riled up. that along with other pieces of even more distressing news. the slayer is rarely one to doubt her own capabilities but the uncertainty is strong within her on this day.

firstly, she has people to visit. friends, those-who-can-be-considered-family, allies. and the people who find themselves in the between categories. she'll come knocking on some of your doors or, otherwise, will simply burst in without a knock at all.

she tries to train for a few hours in the barracks but finds herself...distant. distracted. pulled down by too many thoughts. so come the setting of the sun, she starts a slow-paced patrol around the village. ]

[ ...aha. she pauses in her patrolling and waits for him to approach. such a halt to her progress is as good as any invite to join her in her evening's wandering. the slayer is tired and sad and feelings of inadequacy have been plaguing her for the past twenty-four hours. ]

Come out, come out -- wherever you are.

[Jet had been suspicious for so much of Lucetiland, the announcement of the draft shouldn't have come as a surprise... but it still did.

At this point, Jet decides he is too numb about the idea to care. He couldn't stop them from taking Smellerbee or sending away Longshot, he knows he can't resist being dragged off himself. At home he might have attempted to avoid the obvious places he could be found, instead he can still be found on the lawn examining his inventory or at the store, restocking a few odds and ends.

It's annoyance he faces more than fear; Jet knows nothing about battle at sea. The terrain couldn't be more foreign, but just as he told Smellerbee, he'll follow the same advice. He just has to survive. In a battle that doesn't concern him, he just needs to keep people alive, and nothing more.]
