With what might be a surprise to most of the guests, Doctor McCoy is in attendance this evening and has even managed to dress up for the occasion, wearing a seldom worn suit that he found in All Passions when Buffy decided his wardrobe needed updating one afternoon.

It hadn't been a complete waste since he scrubs up quite nicely, despite acting like a wallflower (when he isn't venturing back and forth to refill his glass of punch) and pulling at his tie every so often and looking very uneasy. But discomfort is something he can deal with -- he certainly doesn't want to come under fire from the lady throwing this bash.

Storm never says it out loud, but sometimes living in a house of teenagers ahem, young adults can get a little taxing. Back home, there wasn't much opportunity to go out and spend time with people closer to her age (and nothing makes her feel older than having to admit that), so when she heard about this little party, she figured she may as well take the chance. And besides, what woman doesn't relish the idea of getting all dressed up?

It's been a while since she went out to socialize, though. And she doesn't really know anyone yet, so she'll content herself by people-watching by the punch table... And yes, she does notice that Dr. McCoy has made more than one stop to refill his glass tonight.

She'll give him a small, amused smile when he next stops by.

Storm certainly hadn't escaped the doctor's attention each time he made the valiant journey from the shadows and over to the punch table. One of the bright sides to these opening nights, McCoy had decided, was the girls loved a good excuse to get dressed up and be the center of attention for the evening. And Storm managed to tick every single box in his opinion.

But when she smiles at him over the table, a thought suddenly occurs to him and his brow knits together thoughtfully as he looks her over. Eyes up, doctor. "... When did you get back?"

Her smile brightens some when she realizes he remembers her. "Not long ago," she says. "I'm just as surprised as you are to find myself back here."

She raises her own glass of punch to him a little. "Enjoying your night out, Doctor?" She would tease him about where his eyes were so obviously straying if she were a lesser woman.

Clearly, the most happening place in town is the perfect place to be for this little unicorn. Rarity has curled her hair, done her makeup, and designed a sparkling blue dress especially for the occasion. She does make her rounds about the room, examining all the decor and finding a place where she might enjoy the entertainment. But not after stopping at the hors d'oeuvres table. A little bit of fruit won't hurt her figure, right?

[Right... Michael had heard tell of a pony showing up in the village, so at least he knew it probably wasn't the champagne getting to his head so early in the night when a white pony in a dress trots up to get herself something to eat.

Still... pardon him staring in confusion.]

The idea of a pony in a nightclub would normally be the sort of thing Kay would raise a serious eyebrow at, but a moment after she does a double-take, she recognizes the pony as Rarity. So eventually she makes her way over. "Well, aren't you looking nice tonight?"

Oh Prose is it. originaljackass August 7 2011, 05:10:20 UTC
Jack liked any sort of place he could go and visit and have a good time and he was hoping this would be one of those places. It seemed pretty retro to him, but that was hardly a bad thing to him, since he lived through all sorts of different eras. Before stopping by he'd went and sought out doesntdojack, prompting her to come along. Jack had made himself look nice - sports blazer and all that. Rose had likewise prettied herself up. The two of them will take a table and get a feel for the place, though gradually they'll mingle about and split up.

((In other words, you want a three-person thread, go for it. Otherwise you can hit up one of them solo.)

When Jack had mentioned that a new night club opening, how could she say no to checking it out? After weeks of exploring Luceti, it was good to take a break. Going out with Jack gave Rose a sense of normalcy, and a chance to wear the new little-black-dress she had just altered to accommodate her wings.

"Looks like they really put some work into this place," she commented appreciatively, taking a seat at a table near the center of everything.

He rather liked that little black dress number she had on, making this outing all the better. It was always nice to enter a place like this with a hot lady by your side. Sure, they might not be dating anymore, but appearances was everything.

"Kind of small, though." But comparing a night club from a village of three hundred to one in New York was hardly fair.

Jack was definitely getting the better end of things. After all, Rose was hot and hadn't alienated anyone there. Clearly she was upping his stock value by appearances, if nothing else. She gave the room another look around and then glanced back to Jack.

"Luceti doesn't have the same numbers New York did," she pointed out. "And it's opening night to boot."

Clark isn't usually one for going to a nightclub alone, but at this point he doesn't really have much in the way of options. Just about everybody he knows from home has already gone back, and the few people who are left aren't ones he thinks would really enjoy a night out like this.

He glances around when he enters in an appraising sort of way before catching himself with a chuckle.

"Too used to doing reviews..." he mutters to himself. With a little glance at the hors d'oeurves, he decides to hang around the table for a bit and see if he can strike up a conversation.

Kay's been making the rounds, because if there's one thing she hates to see, it's a wallflower who doesn't look like he wants to be a wallflower. Especially on opening night. If the place is to succeed, everyone's going to need to feel welcome, and checking in on the stragglers can't hurt.

So when she sees the fellow with the glasses lingering by the refreshments, it looks like it's time to head in. After reaching for an hors d'oeuvres for herself, she gives him a smile. "Have you tried any of the ones with the mushrooms yet? They're pretty good."

He was in the middle of deciding when Kay showed up, so when she makes her suggestion he gives her a grateful smile and goes right for one of the ones she pointed out.

"Thanks for the tip. It's always hard to decide what to try first with a great spread like this."

He takes a bite out of his chosen tidbit and his smile widens. "My compliments to the chef." He says once he's done with that bite, and holds out his free hand. "Clark Kent. Nice to meet you."

"I don't think you'd go wrong with any of them--everything I've tried has been great."

Kay smiles back and is about to shake his hand when he actually says his name. At that point, she loses all dignity for one moment, when she about chokes on her own bite of food. His name's Clark Kent? Of course his name's Clark Kent; just look at the man, looks just like in the cartoons they show before pictures.

But once she's coughed once, she's fine and can extend her own hand to shake his. "Excuse me! Kay Eaton--it's a real pleasure, Mr. Kent."

Karai has certainly been to such places before; though she's kept largely to herself in Luceti, politics at home dictated she show her face often. And now? Cultivate relationships, her father has said, and in the absence of anything else to do, and a desire to keep out of her apartment as much as possible-- for reasons she doesn't want to admit to herself-- she turns up in a sleek, black cocktail dress with red trim and takes a seat at one of the smaller tables.

Sure, she's not exactly running out there to make friends, but small steps first. At least she's here.

When she enters, Jack is already with Rose at a table. But he excuses himself for a moment to head on over to her, ready to make her social outing all the more difficult.

"Well I sure didn't expect to see you here."

Knew she could always count on you, Jack. Their last conversation is fresh in her mind, so she doesn't particularly find him all that welcoming. Yet, the corner of her mouth turns up a little just the same.

"Perhaps taking people by surprise is a hobby of mine, Mr Horner."

Horner, Mr Horner, or Jack. One day she'll settle on the one.

Hey, he helped her out in a fight and made a lewd comment. That's his way of being friendly. "I've always liked surprising women. You here alone?"
