[He doesn't want to do this. Ever since returning to Luceti after saving Noel from this fate back home, he hasn't been able to feel the Idea Engine within him. That meant that he wouldn't be able to replicate his job back home, even if it meant the loss of his arm again. He didn't care -- he just didn't want Noel to die because of something out of her control. And despite him beating Rachel's expectations last time, it was this time that he was beginning to realize that there was truly no other way around fixing this aside from killing her ( ... )

[Guerilla warfare isn't the best tactic in this battle; not when your prey can still make out your presence from within the brush. She knows she's not alone in the forest, but she wasn't expecting...

No, nevermind about that.]

... Azure Grimoire detected.

[Words. He hears words. And those words sound an awful lot like she knows that he's here. Of course. It's not like he could try hiding out until she got too close for her own good. Nothing is ever that easy. Not with these Murakumo Units sensing Azure and the like. Sometimes, his arms gives him more trouble than it gives him help.

... Actually, that's most of the time.

With a bit of a groan under his own breath, Ragna grabs the handle of Blood-scythe before pushing off against the trunk of the tree he was using for cover. If he can't have his cover, then there's absolutely no point in waiting to see if she decides to impale him through it or not. He'd rather get the first hit, if he can manage it.

Just a little closer, and he can work his way out to punch her. Or slash. Something that would be a good start.]

The Wheel of Fate is Turning... vulcanblazer June 19 2011, 04:44:01 UTC
[Adell had been busy pursuing the chaos that was running rampant across town all day. Once word reached his ears, he was out and ready to fight, trying to move to intercept the threat to the village.

He was finally getting close, having heard the cacophony of noise produced by Mu's previous battles with her enemies. Heading into a clearing deep in the woods, he's about to meet the cause of all of this.

...Inevitably, this is where he has his encounter with the Godslayer, Kusanagi. Mu-12. Noel Vermillion, the girl he'd call one of his dearest friends. He enters the clearing wordlessly at first, looking carefully at the armored figure in front of him... she looked.... so very familiar.]

[It had been like this over and over again; encounter enemy, scan, fight, kill or injure. There was no end to it. Though it was taking its toll on Kusanagi, she persisted. It was her perseverance that had kept her alive; a deadly trait that seemed to exist in all functional units.

The man before her wasn't any different. She's shaken from the last battle, but she refuses to let it end here.]

Scanning... target confirmed. [...] Threat level is SS.

[That voice... He takes a harder look at the figure before him. He knows he's seen her... That armor is similar to Nu-13's, though much more ridiculous. And Nu was...

...A Murakumo Unit. But this wasn't Nu.... and there was only one other one he knew about.]

...Oh no.

[His voice escapes him without a thought. He makes no aggressive moves, inadvertently giving Mu more time to recover.]

[Here lies a dead Kusanagi.

No, but seriously. After all the efforts of everyone today, it was Adell who finally did her in. The explosion of Vulcan Blaze gave her some pretty nasty burns, but in a stroke of luck(?) it had also burned away her filial wings, instantly killing Kusanagi.

All that's left from her is silence. Strangely enough, the Godslayer looks... almost peaceful.

It makes sense.]

[...It's over. Mu... Noel... she's gone. Adell looks down to her now motionless body. He kneels down, wincing as every muscle in his body cries out in pain. He's covered in both his own blood and Noel's, and at this point, it's impossible to tell which is which ( ... )

[Maybe he'll hear her approach. Maybe not. Nami is certainly very quiet, padding soft steps across the wreckage of the clearing to stand a little way behind Adell. She doesn't need to get any closer to know.

She hates Adell a little, right now.

But she also hurts for him. He did what had to be done. Better him than...

...

It'll be a while before she asks. Her voice is very soft. And very flat.]

How badly are you hurt?

[...He hates himself a little right now too. Before Nami's voice registers in his mind, before he can process the words, or even the tone.

...What if there had been another way? What if what he did was nothing short of barbaric? Regret builds up quickly in those moments, though it settles back down as he looks back at the crown in his hand and back to Noel.

When Kusanagi was alive, there was nothing in those azure eyes except for rage. Pure, seething hatred for everything and everyone; and though he had seen a being of immense power radiate similar feelings before, even they paled in comparison to the fury Mu-12 had. But at the same time, he wondered... were Kusanagi, Mu-12... what Noel wanted? No. It couldn't be.

...And it's a couple of moments before Nami's words are pieced together in his mind. He glances back at her over his shoulder, his face... exhausted, drained... and hurt, more than anything.]

...Pretty messed up.

[He slowly rises back up, the action an obvious difficulty that he tries to mask in his face. ( ... )
