Duncan had taken a shower and changed into denims and a clean t-shirt, and felt quite ready to go exploring. Out of sheer habit, he tossed on his coat to hide his katana, even though he would have been safe enough to go out unarmed. No one would challenge him on consecrated ground, after all.

He decided that he would have a look around outside before he examined the hotel interior. After the long drive to Lower Tadfield, he definitely felt the need to stretch his legs a bit.

As he rounded the building, he came across a sight that stopped him dead in his tracks: Two men were facing each other, swords in hand. Neither of them had an Aura. So this was not a fight among Immortals foolish enough to battle on Holy Ground.

Warily, he approached, ready to discard his coat and draw his own sword quickly if need be.

While he was still approaching, he saw a most unlikely thing: One of the men in front of him seemed to grow wings. Duncan stopped in his tracks.

Aziraphael made the critical error of turning to look at the approaching man. Michael let out all of his wings and used them to propel himself forward. While he could have used the opportunity to decapitate the lesser angel, instead he punched him in the jaw

"Never let yourself get distracted!" he shouted, grinning like crazy when the Principality rolled away from him and went into a crouch, not even rubbing his reddened jaw.

As the more warrior-like of the two attacked the other, Duncan reached for his sword, ready to intervene.

What followed made clear that he was witnessing not a full-scale duel, but merely a practice bout. However, that did nothing to explain the wings growing from the two men's backs.

Sword-hilt in hand, the Immoral approached the two.

War was standing at her window, speculating if she could hit the trees at the edge of the grounds with her crossbow, which she heard voices. She looked down to one side and could just see two angels and a man, all armed with swords.

"Sounds like my kinda party," she grinned. She slung her duffel bag of swords over her back, grabbed her throwing hook, wedged it into the bedframe, and threw herself out the window.

She landed on the grass outside like a cat, then straightened and started walking towards them, reaching into the bag for one of her swords.

Hearing something behind him, Duncan turned. A woman with hair red as any Scottish lassie's came walking towards him. The way she carried herself told him this was no stranger to fighting.

As an Immortal, he had learned to take female opponents seriously far before anyone in this part of Europe had come up with the idea that women could, indeed, be valiant and able fighters.

He sketched a swordsman's greeting with his katana.

Michael grinned at Duncan. "I have no idea what what your back-story is but it takes a lot of guts for a human to challenge someone with six wings, which I can definitely approve of."

Then he noticed the bombshell redhead walking over to them and his grin got even bigger. "Apparently we need a sword-fighting club," he admitted, seeing that she was drawing a very well-made weapon. "And, while I wouldn't mind taking anyone on, we are here for the purpose of making Aziraphael suck less, so that does take some precedence..."

There was something very... familiar about the redhead, now that she was getting closer. She felt like... well, like something he'd definitely felt before. Huh. This was getting weirder and weirder.

Adam was taking a walk over the fields around the mansion. Dog had been objecting to the lack of attention over the last few days so adam was taking him for a nice long walk. Dog had aged remarkably well. It was no doubt the benefits of being a hell-hound. Not that he was any more really. He hadn't really been a hell-hound since he had first come to adam. Now he was just dog.

Dog ran up to Adam, his tail wagging with excitement of the rabbit hole he'd just found. Adam crouched down and ruffled dog's hair as he ran round his ankles.

"Hey dog, fancy heading over to the hotel? Lots of interesting people there..."

Dog barked his approval and bolted off in the direction of the hotel. Adam laughed and chased after him. He could kind of feel a bit of a gathering happening there, a lot of people in the same place and a certain amount of aggression. He figured it wouldn't be a bad idea to make sure he was around. There were a fair few people he'd still not had a chance to meet yet anyway...

Gabriel had been astonished by a lot of humans, but this took the cake. Michael may have been... rough, and Gabriel didn't approve of his nicknames for Aziraphale - or himself - but there was no denying that Michael wasn't the leader of the Host for nothing.

He decided to step in. "Duncan, we aren't Immortals. Not the way you are, at least. Chopping off my head, for instance, would do nothing beyond reduce this body to a corpse, and I would be back with a new body soon enough."

He turned slightly as he sensed the new arrivals, smiling at War and Adam. "Just training," he said to the Antrichrist, holding his hands up in a placating gesture.

War raised her eyebrows. Had she heard right? "Leader of the Host"?

She put her hands on her hips, deliberately provocative. "Are you guys fighting or are you just going to talk each other to death? Because that - " she swung the sword round and dropped into a fighting stance " - isn't my idea of fun."

Adam looked over the group. He recognised most of them either from meeting them or from descriptions he'd seen. One he hazarded a guess at from the bookings at the hotel. Although most of them seemed to be armed he didn't think it looked like any of them were going to kill each other. He was still a little nervous about war but even she looked like she was just there to practice.

"'salright. Was just following Dog who decided to run off." Almost as if prompted dog barked and finished investigating the flowerbed that had distracted him and ran up to investigate all the new people.

"Don't mind Dog though. He'll get out the way when you start swinging them swords."

Adam found a comfortable, if slightly damp, bit of grass to make himself at home on and spread out his coat to settle down and watch.

Gabriel turned to the redhead. "Michael's otherwise occupied at the moment, but if you wish to fight someone, I could take up your challenge, though I haven't fought someone else in a while."
