Loki was on his way downstairs to check whether there was anyone in the sitting room when he noticed himself. Maybe he had time for a chat?

"Good morning," he called out. "What are you up to today?"

"Morning!" Loki returned, turning to face his other self.

"I admit, I'm not quite sure yet. I thought I'd explore the area a bit, maybe. I didn't really have much of a chance to familiarize myself with the city. I'd also like to have a look at upper Tadfield, I think.

Ah, so he was going to be out for a while. For a moment Loki considered offering his company. It would be a good chance to just talk and spend time with himself, but, if he could stay here ...

"Oh, I wish I could come along," he said almost honestly. "But I've arranged to meet some of my friends in London today and it's too late to postpone it."

"Too bad," Loki lied, rejoicing inwardly. "But maybe another time?"

A meeting in London would put the other one firmly out of the way for a while. Exactly what he had been waiting for.
