He could tell that Elfe was pleased with "wining" their little argument. Of course, she was trying very hard to mask it and doing a far better job of it than when she used to dance around card tables at five.

"Not yet." He motioned to the tea and coffee on the desk. "But we do have this habit of earliness, you realize."

Veld slid a map to Elfe's side of the table. "Everything's been looked over." he commented in a business tone. It was very strange, dealing with his daughter on the same side and as an equal. "I want you to take second on this mission, Elfe. If something happens to me or you feel my choices are not sound, this is your job to get everyone home safe."

Because really, who better to trust.

Once more you open the door? chief_mendacity February 9 2010, 23:49:38 UTC
In Veld's never to be humble opinion, Zack should have the Hell intimidated out of him. After all, Aerith like his other daughter was a beautiful, amazing young woman and no man was really good enough for her. In retrospect it was probably best for both Aerith's and Elfe's dating lives that Veld missed their teen years.

"Ah, early." Veld commented of Zack when he saw the young man in the doorway. He motioned to Elfe. "This is my older daughter, Elfe. She'll be the second in command for this mission."

Not the most normal of family functions, Veld would have to admit. "Elfe this is Zack, a friend of Aerith's."

Their trip had been pretty decent, chatting all the way there about what exactly was going on and where they'd be going. Not that she was too concerned. She'd given Veld a hearty verbal lashing about getting himself into trouble, though a little voice in her head warned her that such warnings didn't really amount to much to a Turk. (Tseng had taught her that one.)

Peering over Zack's shoulder, Aerith got her first glimpse of the mysterious sister and nearly had the same reaction. Except that her experience with the ex-AVALANCE leader was probably less trouble-filled than Zack's. Giving the big lug a little push to the side to make herself visible, she gave both Veld and Elfe a little smile and wave.

"I hope we didn't keep you waiting."

Aerith had remained the quiet observer during the brief, casting glances around the team whenever the opportunity became avaiable. It was a rather interesting team that Veld had assembled. AVALANCE, a Turk, and ex-Soliders on the same team? She never expected to see this sort of of assembly working together. Then again, she'd seen many interesting things in her (rather shortened) lifetime ( ... )

Veld watched the change in Aerith's face, though he kept his own blank. He'd have to get her alone to talk to her.

"There is always a chance of looters, but currently, Sephiroth is contained and I would assume his retrieval would be the top priority for his copies." Veld didn't want to also mention that he was hoping to get a shot at Yazoo, fighting fair was never something he exactly cared to do or prided himself on.

"If there are others, we will address them on a case by case basis, but I'm disinclined to trust people who say they are here to help me without proof of that first."

Though there were one or two people who could crop up and have Veld's trust, but they would have to be back from the dead. He'd already been lucky in regards to his daughters, Veld wasn't getting his hopes up.
