Thanks, Jilly! I felt I had to, you know? I spend too much time dwelling on the broken aspects of their relationship.

This story was chock full of pleasant bon mots that are so in character. I loved the interactions between Sam and Gene, especially their banter. "I've got you" hit me in just the right spot as both witty and touching. Great job w/ the surrounding characters, too. It felt like everyone got a fair airing in this and all came out feeling very real.

While this is ultimately a romantic story, it is still very edgy in feel which is what I enjoyed about it. I do love first time fics about these two and the banter you've laid out here is definitely them. Very nice.

I'm not a flowers and hearts kind of writer for Life on Mars. Pretty much everything I write is going to have some sort of crispy edge to it, to balance out the sentimentality.

Thank you!

This is lovely! The dialogue is excellent and it's a great follow up to A Solitary Man (I can't remember if I commented on that or not, but I thoroughly enjoyed it- one of the best fics about 2.08 that I've read, in fact). I also like the way you handled the Sam/Annie relationship, since so often in slash it just gets ignored. Wonderful job all around! :D

Thank you ♥

I always feel guilty when I split up Sam and Annie, because I also ship them. But I wanted to be as close to canon as I could be barring the couple of fix-its, so I had to deal with their relationship. Still, there's more about that in the third story, if the third story ever gets written.

I'm not much of a shipper in general (I <3 genfic), but I really like both Sam/Annie and Sam/Gene. And I'm firmly of the opinion that Annie is awesome and deserves more fic-time than she often gets. So I tend to prefer to see Sam/Annie at least addressed in Sam/Gene fic, instead of being ignored entirely.

Ooh, and I'd definitely love to see another story in this series! :D

I'm the same; gen-ficcer all the way, except when I'm not. And yes, I think Annie is awesome. I don't exactly mind ignoring her, as long as it's in place of bashing. I think I usually try to mention Annie in most of my fiction at some point. I really need to get back to writing S/A fic, but I have a horrible affliction, and its name is OTP.
