How do you do it? How do you write a fic with SO many little things that hit all my buttons. I shall list them.

and a perfect representation of the "I love you, but I don't have to like it" mentality of the pairing (which actually is the thing I look for in pairings). *gives you massive thumbs up*

I don't know what I can say to this to do it justice, really. I love how you weave the progression of their relationship through other events, through other characters, to remind that life is always going on, if that makes any sense; I love their talking, interaction in the pub before the sex kicks off, Gene confiding about his past; I love that you can keep me reading for nearly 12,000 words without considering stopping; I love the opening beyond belief (it reminded me of Bill Bailey's take-off of British cop shows; I couldn't tell if you'd actually been inspired by it or just had an amazingly similar brain to his). I might go and read it again.
