And now for a proposition of sorts...

Recently I started the process of brainstorming and researching in order to write a gift fic for someone in the community here and an idea popped up in my head. I attempted to ignore it at first, because I know it will be a great deal of work on my part no matter how fun it might prove to be, but it just wouldn't go away. So I brought it up to a ( Read more... )

I feel my muses straining at the leash, and god knows how long they'll feel like playing, so I'm all for taking advantage of them while I have them.

That's a yes, btw...

Sounds like fun! I'm personally in favor of the Secret Santa exchange. (If only because Secret Santa exchanges are best in May. ^_^)

PS: I <3 your choice of music. Me haves a Queen fetish.

You already know I'm in favour of the idea, Heathbar.
Either way, direct trade or Secret Santa style, I'd love to participate.

you haven't made clear how the gift thing works--how specific the guidelines for the "gifts" would be, and how much information is given in the "application". i'm thinking specifically of this disaster in lotrips where i ended up stuck with the assignment "[pairing that had never even occurred to me] smut, angst".

Having gotten stuck in situations like that before, I totally understand the concern. Hopefully I can answer this and make it make sense.

One portion of the app would include a space for you to list your maximum ratings and anything you specifically refuse to write or draw. That way people who don't do smut or aren't comfortable dealing with certain characters can say as much. I can promise you that if you tell me something like "no smut" or "no Shadwell," I'll give you an assignment that doesn't specifically request either. There will also probably be a space for you to list what characters/pairings/etc. you're most comfortable with, or at least a miscellaneous spot it could be mentioned in.

Another portion would ask for your favorite characters and, seperately, your favorite pairings. That way, say the person assigned to write/draw for you wasn't sure about doing something involving your OTP, they could simply focus your gift on one or two of your favorite characters instead.

I hope that helps.
