And now for a proposition of sorts...

Recently I started the process of brainstorming and researching in order to write a gift fic for someone in the community here and an idea popped up in my head. I attempted to ignore it at first, because I know it will be a great deal of work on my part no matter how fun it might prove to be, but it just wouldn't go away. So I brought it up to a bunch of my friend and, since they supported the concept, I decided to bring it up here.

I'm an artist and a writer who loves working on challenges and gifts. I'm a terrible slacker sometimes, yes, but that doesn't change the fact that I love it and, especially if it's a gift, I usually get the work done. In the Harry Potter fandom, which has been my primary fandom for the past few years, I have never turned down the chance to take part in a trade program. Even now, with my focus on HP waning, I still join in on practically anything that's mentioned to me if it involves drawing or writing something for someone else.

So that's where the idea started - gifts. It's always fun to recieve them and it feels good to give them. The obvious next step, of course, was then to attach the idea to a fandom. And that's where you guys come in.

We get some awesome art and fics around here. What would you say to doing a trade, then? Or a gift program? People would sign up with a little application, be given an assignment and then choose whether they wanted to write or draw for their partner. It could be a direct trade (say Crowley draws for Aziraphale and Aziraphale writes for Crowley) or it could be a Secret Santa sort of thing (like Famine writes for Pollution who draws for War who writes for DEATH who...yeah...you get it).

I don't know if anyone but my cracked-out friends and I will seriously be interested in this but I just thought it might be fun and figured it couldn't hurt to bring it up. If you think it sounds like a cool idea and you'd be willing to participate, or if you have some sort of question about it, please leave a comment. If there's enough interested, I'll go through with it. If not...eh...I'll just take my lame ideas (and lamer examples) back over to my flist and torture them.
