Your ideas have probably already been taken. There isn't one idea/plotwhathaveyou that hasn't been done already. You just provide your own twist, which is what makes you unique.

So, yeah, do it if you want to.

Hm. True, but I don't know. It's like letting your kid go for the first day of school. You don't know if they are going to pass by unnoticed, get picked on by bullies, or be a total hit with everyone.
