I'm actually surprised that Ianto has survived on the show as long as he has. Most of my favourite tend to get killed off quickly.

We got lucky, he was the original victim of Copley in Reset - RTD changed it literally last minute. According to his book reshoots had to be done, it was that close!

I heard about that. The only thing that saved him was Owen had a bigger zest for life. It always makes me wonder how that episode (and later episodes) would have been different if Ianto had been the one killed.
