covers

Two thoughts: The Boss and/or Kelly Clarkson.

Which songs?

We're talking covers for shows, for fun, not for records.

Responses? Other ideas?

KC: Hazel Eyes, b/c of you (tough w/o keys, but I think you could do it), SUBG (I know, I know, but sometime you gotta give the people what they want)
The Boss: maybe something from the first album - Blinded by the Light, It's Hard to be a Saint in the City, Growing Up. They (esp. played live in the early to mid 70's) were really fucking fast, aggressive songs. One of my favorite Bruce moves ever was him doing "For You" from that album as a ballad - I think it might show off your voice in a different light and maybe help the pacing of your show. Hungry Heart or Atantic City are other great choices.

well i maintain that "Hear Me" is an amazing song but it's a lesser-known KC song, as that sort of thing goes. Could allow for some valuable melodrama, though... "Never Again" is a song that I feel could be reworked in potentially interesting ways.

Bruce: well, American Land could be great for the fiddle. I might even learn how to play tin whistle for that one. But really, I think Night, Badlands, or Dancing in the Dark.

KC: jeez. I think it would be kind of hilarious if you did Breakaway. Have to listen to the newer album.

yeah - the sax solo on Born To Run would sound most excellent coming out of a violin.

for fun and for records?

answer: no. Because among other things: copyright. Is my guess.

oh, if that was the question, yeah, also b/c it is a much more high-stakes decision if we're gonna end up putting it on an album. it would have to be a Very Special KC cover...
