Oh this was so poignant, sad and just so well written! It was great to see Gwen and Merlin talk to each other and his magic and Arthur's death and something that was sorely missing from the episode.

Thanks so much for sharing! It would be nice if you did another set after this fic where Gwen is pregnant and getting use to ruling the kingdom without Arthur.

Thank you! The Gwen-Merlin interactions were missing all seasons, and there really needed to be one in the finale, imo!

I'm actually planning on turning this into as series of vignettes dealing with Gwen's rule (and baby), so stay tuned!

Yeah, so I finally stopped crying after the episode and now you go and write this.

But it was beautiful and right. This was definitely something that needed to be in there. Merlin did not keep secrets from just Arthur and Merlin wasn't the only one Arthur left behind. I really like your child explanation as well.

Aw, thank you! I'm glad the explanation came across okay - I felt that there needed to be a reason for it since random pregnancy after five years may have seemed a little out there!

A scene between Gwen and Merlin would have given so much to the finale. It boggles my mind how the writers/creators failed to understand that. Your fic truly captured everything that made the love story of Arthur and Guinevere so beautiful and the friendship of Merlin with both so compelling and how his secret felt like the worst betrayal.

Like so many, I'm still reeling from the finale and my feelings could explode with what could have been. Thank you for showing Gwen's anger and bitterness at Merlin's choices, especially at her being robbed at having Arthur's body close by like his ancestors.

The finale missed out on a lot of moments that would have made it epic considering the direction it decided to take with Arthur's death and Merlin's failures. Your fic nailed them all and brought clarity to a tragic situation. Thank you for sharing your version of events with us. :-)

I agree, but then the writers never seemed that invested in Gwen, which is sad since there was so much potential for deep stuff with her character and Arthur/Gwen.

Thanks so much for your comments! I loved that Gwen seemed to accept and be happy when she found out about Merlin, but I think when they met again she would resent his choices a little bit.

Omg... I'm in tears... I am still having a hard time moving past the fact that its truly over. And this is now officially my head canon. As far as I'm concerned its a deleted scene.
