Robin Hood, or How Ego Ruined a Good Concept

I actually liked this more than I thought I would, but then I was expecting it to be complete pants so I'm not really sure what that says. I greatly appreciate the rundown. I've always loved Robin Hood (read as many versions of the story as I could get my hands on when I was younger) and wanted to be excited about this movie, but I just cannot get behind Crowe as Robin. I just can't, not even with Cate Blanchett as Marian (though it sounds like Marian wasn't written properly anyway). And Crowe's arrogant comments about other Robin Hoods annoyed me, and the commercials are driving me insane with the whole, "I declare him *dramatic pause* to be *dramatic pause* an outLAAAAAWWWWWWWWW!!!" business. Good to know I'm not missing anything by giving this one a pass.

Lady Marian leading some teenage boys on ponies into battle - and then reverts to damsel in distress mode. I actually really would have liked her to be the one to off Godfrey, but instead that's left to Robin, while Marian blubbers about in the shallow water because her chainmail is too heavy. Fail.Ha, yes. My sister and I were wondering what the other soldiers thought of Robin apparently making out with another dude in the middle of the battle, too. :p ( ... )

there has been so much hype about this movie and to be honest, i just have no interest at all, even though i ordinarily love legend-reinvention movies... plus after bane-of-my-existance blade runner i have no desire to contribute to ridley scott's success in anything.
