Poor Brushkût! This was a fascinating look at a possible orc society. Clearly both nature and (lack of)nurture have much to do with orc personalities.

But I have to say, his name made me smile.

Well, I made you smile on the first day of the year and I think that's marvelous. May you continue do to so each day of this year ahead of us :-) Thank you for your kind words.

Really, really interesting! I really like your depiction of orcish society, I thought it was spot on! And sympathy for orcs is always interesting, though maybe slightly unsettling. Poor old Brushkut :(

Thank you. I fear there is little to like in orcish society. It is brutish and minimalist, meant to get rid of any chaff as quickly as possible, yet breed replacements at an alarming rate. Quite frightening in many ways. I do agree, poor Brushkut.

Yes, your description is really spot on - and came across very well in your fic, too. R.I.P :(

I have read some of The Lauderdale and enjoyed her work. My orcs roam wild around my imagination, and I'm delighted that you enjoyed this work enough to write to me. Thank you so very much!

I'm glad I happened to skim Middle Earth News, which brought me here. You write the Orcs in such a way as to provoke both disgust and sympathy. I like the thematic use of the snow/heat/cold motif throughout (in fact, I can safely say this is one of the few fics I've read that I've found literally chilling). Great work.

Thank you so very much! I actually write about the Dark Side quite often, but Brushkut wanted his story to be told and, in fact, was quite insistent. I'm delighted that it struck you as plausible and am very grateful for your kind words.

Squeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!

I'd say this is a lovely story, but well... *g* No worries, I loved it, in all its cold and unpleasant goryglory, and I'm glad my prompt inspired you to write Brushkût's story.

I am delighted that you enjoy your story. You did ask for orcs, and as much as I try for lightness within orcish society and residences, I just can't quite pull it off :-) I was delighted to have the opportunity to write this for you :-)
