A most convincing, truly chilling tale. I, too, felt sorry for Brushkut and his fellows as they vainly approached their destination. And the title was most aptly chosen!

And their Master didn't really care that much, for he considered them expendable and easily replaced. What a waste!

Thank you so much, Larner. If I managed to convince you, then my writing came through :-) You're correct, Melkor (and later both Sauron and Saruman) would consider their orcs as fodder for their war and completely expendable and replaceable.

I live here in the snowbelt and am very familiar with snow and how it can start cold and then become warm. That's when you need to be very afraid because you're almost past the point of no return.
