Okay... "Ask me sometime about the difference between a "real" pearl and a "real natural" pearl."
So, what's the difference between a "real" pearl and a "real natural" pearl? Is one the man inserts a bit of sand and the other one that happens naturally? One the real round and the other the bumpy lumpy look?
Inquiring minds also want to know more about the Viking Wire weaving. :D
Apparently, some places grind up low-grade pearls and re-cast them into nice shiney round ones. So, technically it is pearl, but if its been cast or fixed or dyed or anything other than drilled once its out of the shell, its not 'real natural.' making distinctions between the two was half the class, because the same re-casting is done to amber sometimes, and perfectly good semi-precious stones of various types are infused with lacquer or binders to make them stand up better. Nothing wrong with it if you know its there, but, its 'real' and not 'real natural.'
I'll scan the Viking Wire Weave handout and e-mail it to you, its very good, excellent pictures, and the materials are pretty generic.
