Ooh, that's a sweet bike! Wish we could go riding together. Congratulations on your fast learning curve. Man, did it take me forever to figure out how to stop and dismount a road bike. I've been riding almost exclusively on the drops because I'm not crazy about the position of my hoods, but in order to fix it I have to leave the bike at the bike store and then I won't be able to ride it and the thought depresses me. I am thinking of suffering through until winter and getting it fixed when the weather is too crappy for riding.

My coworker just got VFFs. Apparently they can't be kept on the shelves so the stores are just giving up on ordering more until Christmas. The cult grows!

I'd have thought the drops would be harder ... more to bend. If I ride on the hoods, then I can shift my hand to straighten up a little and ride on the bars to occasionally ease myself. What's the problem with your hoods?

Wish we could ride together as well ... it would be fun to not ride alone. I'll have to look into bike clubs or something if I want to start going on much longer rides ... might not be a good idea to do so on my own. I just got back from an hour long ride. Now, that's a vast improvement from where I was a few months ago. I still need to get used to the posture on roadbike, as my neck starts hurting after more than half an hour. Again, that's an improvement in time from where I was last week.

Don't wait too long. Go to the shop. Bike fit matters to how much you enjoy yourself on it. Better comfort, better balance, less annoyances .. etc.

When you finally succumb to the cult of VFF ... remember where you heard it first ;-P

I think they're too far forward, it's not comfortable to sit on them because they were place in a position where the bar has already begun to drop.

Hahah, don't worry, Geeky. You are inextricably linked in my mind with those shoes.

You're bumblebee bike is sharp!

The last time I had a road bike, it cheated and had two sets of handbrakes so I didn't have to use the ones on the lower drop.

Hah ... I forgot that those were bee colors. Love it.

I was thinking of adding brakes to the bartops, but as I've been getting more and more comfy on it by the day, I think I can put it off for a bit. The only thing that I still need to get used to is my old style bar end shifters. They are hard to get to. Fortunately, I've been dealing with mostly flat roads up until now, and haven't had to shift too much. I need to get some practice on that before I try tackling bigger loops.

Meanwhile, I just got back from a 15 mile ride, and I'm already trying to plan tomorrow's ride. I swear my obsessions get a little ridiculous at times.
